Viza Invades Greece
Viza to Open for Serj Tankian in Athens on August 17 at Terra Vibe Park
Los Angeles, CA – Viza is set to embark on a very special tour in August 2010. The band will open for former System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian’s tour in Athens, Greece, in Armenia and throughout Europe. Set against the backdrop of Viza’s highly anticipated new album “Made in Chernobyl” scheduled for release on July 31, 2010, these performances mark an important step for the band as it continues to grow and expand its influence and captivating style of alluring rhythms and melodies.
“This is an exciting time,” stated lead singer K’noup. “We are eager to reach out to new fans all across the world and what better way than to perform in my native Greece,” he added.
K’noup Tomopoulos, founder of Viza and the group’s frontman, was born in Kastoria and spent many years in Greece with family while living in New York City. “It is a dream come true to return to my homeland with Viza and for us to perform at Terra Vibe Park opening for such a tremendous talent like Serj Tankian,” stated K’noup.
Viza is a brigade of 9 international musicians from Los Angeles, integrating oud, duduk, and percussion with the hard edge of rock. This unique blend has infiltrated the global music scene with an explosive sound attracting enormous crowds. With sold out shows all across the US and Canada, Viza fans are tuned in from around the world. The band has released two EPs and two full length albums, along with an award winning music video.
“These shows will set the tone for our continued development as a group,” stated oud player Andrew Kzirian. “We are really looking forward to our performances abroad and can’t wait for everyone to hear Viza,” Kzirian remarked.
Viza is currently managed by Serjical Strike Management, which is headed by Serj Tankian from System of a Down. The band will be performing in Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, Zurich and Bologna with Serj Tankian throughout the month of August.
