Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 theme tune written by Trent Reznor
The upcoming entry in the world-famous Call Of Duty series, Black Ops 2, will carry a theme tune penned by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor. Reznor, who recently scored The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has written an “aggressively sounding” rock track for the game. The title is published by Activision, the games company owned by Universal Music parent Vivendi.
Video games composer Jack Wall (Mass Effect 2) wrote the rest of the music for the game.
“I learned in listening to the full story and the amount of effort that has gone into the back story and the characters and the full preparation (is) there is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface,” Reznor told USA Today.
“So it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho, patriotic feeling theme song. It has to feel weighty. There is a lot of remorse and apprehension here. So choosing to arrange it a bit more with guitars and drums and aggressively sounding, that struck a tone with them.”
Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, developed by Activision-owned US studio Treyarch, is due for release in Q4.
