The Darkness sign new deal with PIAS

The Darkness are the first band to sign a deal with PIAS at the company’s new Tower Bridge HQ, having secured a worldwide licensing deal excluding North and South America.
The licensing agreement, which will see PIAS release the band’s third album – Hot Cakes – was signed this afternoon on the label’s first day of business at their new offices.

The new album is the band’s first since 2005’s One Way Ticket To Hell… And Back. The new album is set for release on August 20 ahead of lead single Everybody Have A Good Time on July 2.

The band is also supporting Lady Gaga on her European tour later this summer.

Ian Johnsen of Mythophonic Music Management, representing The Darkness said: “The band, Rick and myself are honoured to be working with our friends at PIAS, nearly as honoured as they are to be working with us, and we wish them well in their bright and airy new office space.

“We believe that forward-thinking independent companies such as PIAS and WInd-Up (North & South America) are the ideal partnerships for The Darkness in 2012, and we look forward to long and fruitful relationships with them.”

The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album Permission to Land in 2003, which went quadruple platinum, selling 1.5m copies in the UK alone.

PIAS’s new offices are located at 1 Bevington Path, London, SE1 3PW. The old Fulham offices are being redeveloped into luxury flats.
