Zweed n’ Roll – Rocking in Thailand

1. How did the band enter the music business?

We were students in Silpakorn University together and decided to start a band together. We didn’t think much of it and just started with writing music and jamming together in the dorm, and then moved on to auditioning at Play Yard Pub, singing covers. The owner suggested we write our own songs. That’s how our first song, December, was born. After that we put out our first album, ‘I’m 20’ together independently and to our pleasant surprise it gained traction and popularity, especially ‘A Moment’ and ‘Diary’, which to this day gains views and streams for us.

2. How do you place your band in terms of inspiration and musical influences?

We all love different kinds of music. For example Pat, our lead singer loves Radiohead, Travis, Cranberries, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Smiths and Portishead. Poon the lead guitarists loves Travis, Alt J, The Whitest Boy Alive, Radiohead, Coldplay and Cranberries.

3. Have you ever decided to write lyrics in English?

Yes. Ever since our first album we have had English songs with tracks such as Blow Over, Another Dimension, Always, Lies, Restless, Linger and Another Dimension, and in our second album, Resurrection, we have 3 English tracks – Fighter, Star, and Lightning in the Sky. We actually worked with Shane Edwards who is an Australian producer based in Bangkok on the second album.

4. What is the feedback from the fans so far?

We like to treat our fans as part of a community who come together to share our deep feelings and hopefully also heal together in some way and form, and everytime we play we feel the support from them. We just recently announced our second solo concert ‘10 Years of Zweed n’ Roll: The Exhale Concert’, and we are so happy tickets sold out in a couple of hours.

5. Please let us know about your latest music release.

We released a full album called Resurrection on 18th of February this year. It has 12 tracks that we worked on for 2 years during the COVID times. It’s actually an album for the fans, as a thank you and as encouragement that no matter what they are facing in their lives, they are not alone.

6. Do you have plans to perform abroad and promote your music further?

We have been on a tour in Japan before in 2019 and it was so much fun. We’d love to go out and meet our international community again and share with them our second album.

7. Do you have plans to release your music in physical form as well?

Yes. We actually have both albums available in CD and Vinyl forms. We actually sold out the physical copies of our ‘I’m 20’ album and are currently in the process of reprinting them.

8. What are your musical plans for the future?

We never stop writing and are already putting together our thirds album, but at the same time we’re focusing on sharing our second album, Resurrection, with our fans by touring and playing festivals. We’d really love to go overseas and share our message of healing with the world.
