Godspunk volume twenty-three (Pumf Records)

In the world of the digital era, we have almost forgotten how does a tangible format of music (e.g. CD, Vinyl) looks like and how does it sound. We are flooded of “invisible” music made for smart phones, but we still demand for music that could entertain our ears and not our cellular phone! In the wake of this digital/tangible war, I am really happy to see that there are underground labels such as Pumf Records that have been active since the mid-1980s by releasing music compilations like this one on both tangible and intangible format. The double-edged word approach of releasing music from old labels, is considered to be a sign of progress for the music industry because the old pals who carry the experience adjust their activities in the new age and offer a product for the fans that embeds nostalgia and also will to build the bridge for the future.

The collective intelligence of this album is a musical contribution by 52 tracks that breath the underground spirit and offer a mix of Post-punk, Indie Rock, Electronica, Industrial, Avant-garde music for the listeners that will listen to this double album. If we explore this compilation from the mood-based description (since we live in the world of thematic Playlists), then probably I would consider it as a “Music For Revolution” album due to the tension-inspired music and the DIY/protestant artwork of the CD’s booklet. From this compilation I enjoyed artists such as UNIT, Spam Javelin, Ankward Geisha with Gimp Gash, The Large Veiny Members, Infected Youth, The Doggles.

Support the underground and invest in the future of sound when the artificial intelligent music will prevail and we humans, will happily come back to the human-created music of original artists. The album costs £7 and is available to purchase online at www.pumf.net  It’s also available digitally at Bandcamp.
