Two Leading Post-Punk Artists Pay Their Respects To Influential Noise Rock Pioneers CHROME With Two New Remixes!

Founded in mid-‘70s San Francisco, Chrome are one of the most groundbreaking and original bands America has ever produced. Their style, a musical pastiche of noise rock, over-processed guitars, electro-industrial loops, tribal rhythms, and searing synthesized synesthesia, would go on to influence both electronic artists as well as rock bands ranging from Nine Inch Nails to The Flaming Lips. Now, two of the dominating forces in today’s underground post-punk/darkwave music scene offer up their own unique twists on Chrome tracks. 

First up is UK duo The KVB whose sonically adventurous leanings make them particularly well-suited to revamp Chrome’s music. The track they remix, “New Age,” is the fan-favorite lead-off track from one of Chrome’s most accessible albums, 1980’s Red Exposure. Nicholas Wood & Kat Daly’s production emphasizes the bass guitar and strips away the vocal effects to give the track a new sense of both danger and danceability. Meanwhile, Detroit’s Ritual Howls remix a rare non-album track “In A Dream” that originally appeared on Chrome’s 1983 compilation album No Humans Allowed. Ritual Howls reside comfortably in the space between dark rock and synth wave, not unlike Chrome themselves, so it’s no surprise that they’re take on “In A Dream” amps up the pounding drums and Helios Creed’s razor-sharp guitar riff.
