PURPLE OVERDOSE

1. Why did you choose to call your group PURPLE OVERDOSE , what kind of “overdose” is  this ?

There are no secret meanings inside the word ”Purple Overdose”. Purple is our favorite colour which is also sounds.. psychedelic!

2. Do you believe that psychedelic rock is hard to find in today’s music scene ?

 For anyone who has an open mind,nothing is difficult. The biggest pleasure is to find something not being sponsored by the media.

3.There’s a new live album from PURPLE OVERDOSE, so let me know how did you decide to release it …

Our new album ”The Salmon’s Trip..LIVE” is available in two volumes. Volume 1 is the CD edition and Volume 2 the double vinyl box set. Each one has different tracks and that was a need for our 14 years in discography.No one in the Greek independent scene was mature enough to dare and create a project like this.This live album has a specialty. It is also a ”best of..” for Purple Overdose,so,after five albums and a single we decided that a ”live and best of” album ,is essential to our discography, in which the compositions are different from those recorded in the studio. The release of the vinyl box set will be in a numbered limited edition of 500 copies and they will be available only through our site in the internet (www.purpleoverdose.gr.)

4.You’ ve been known for your great artwork in the vinyl format , are you going to include anything special for this album ?

We believe that the music value of an album should have the appropriate conjectural underprop and for that reason we are very elective in our covers and inleaves of our albums.The cover of our latest album is painted in a big pallet by a new talented artist,Aggeliki Valvis. The vinyl edition will be released in a special box set which will include 2 vinyl records 160 gr.each,an 8 page bigsize booklet,a big poster of the original artwork and copies of the posters of the lives where the recordings of this album took place.

5. Have you contacted major labels , to ensure that you will have better distribution in the other countries too ?

 Till now,the truth is that we prefered the small independent ones,because there is an aristic freedom without irelevant interference in the music or in the artwork of the covers.We want to have the first and last word in our work but as you said there’s no good distribution or advertise by the media. For the next album we will contact with well known record labels and we will see…

6. Sometimes this music is connected with the use of LSD or other drugs that have the role of influence for the artist , what is your opinion ?

This kind of music when it started in the middle 60’s,was directly connected with the LSD and the other ”psychedelic staff”.Our opinion is that this is the major source of inspiration for the lyrics.The music part is equivalent with the improvisation (like jazz music) and long play tracks.

7. Have you got any plans for concerts out of Greece ?

If we have a good offer,we will think about it, thank you very much for helping us to communicate with more people
