Who is this matriarch of metal? \u201cGranny is an alter-ego character, an amalgam of contradictions, a dichotomy of old and feeble meets youth, power and vigor,\u201d explains the singer of Granny 4 Barrel, who goes by the name Granny. \u201cShe represents freedom of expression, no limits on a person, and I channel her rage and insanity. In society, there are these stereotypes based on age, sex, race etc. Granny just shatters the mold! Her mantra is unleash your true self…make your own rules, anything is possible. The first song released to radio is \u2018Freak Flag,\u2019 that\u2019s the theme of the song – \u2018Be true to yourself…let your Freak Flag Fly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been far too long since the likes of Alice Cooper, Ziggy Stardust\/David Bowie, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson shocked and rocked their way up the charts and into arenas. Finally, the rock world has their next band that combines hard-hitting rock and theatrics – Granny 4 Barrel – who will be unveiling the first in a series of singles, \u201cFreak Flag,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A video has also been filmed for the track, as well. \u201cWe\u2019re shooting here in Nashville, the director\u2019s name is John Billings, and we put a casting call out for eccentric people, who wanted to be a part of a rock video, people who were not afraid to express themselves, people who felt they have a certain look or talent that makes them unique. We shot in this old church yesterday. We had a crowd of people – there was a ton of energy in the room and everyone looked amazing. What makes the video extra special is that these are just real people looking the way they look and doing the things that they do every day!\u201d The \u201cFreak Flag\u201d video can be viewed via this link:

Produced by Jeff Tomei (whose previous credits include working with Jerry Cantrell, Smashing Pumpkins, and Matchbox Twenty, among others) and issued via Mighty Loud Records (and distributed by InGrooves\/Universal), further singles will be arriving in the coming months. This will include \u2018Nitro Sexy\u2019 (\u201cbasically, the two words describe it – \u201cspeed and sex\u201d), \u2018She Likes Guns\u2019 (\u201cit\u2019s got innuendo, and a sexy vibe\u2019\u201d), and \u2018Piledriver\u2019 (\u201cabout a villainess femme fatale…a common theme on the record\u201d).<\/p>\n

Lastly, is the Granny 4 Barrel live experience, which is like no other rock artist. \u201cThey\u2019re going to see shock rock at its finest. We put out a casting call for eccentric people who wanted to be able to express themselves. People who had a special look or talent that made them unique.\u00a0 So many amazing people showed up for the shoot. This is what makes the video extra special, these are not \u201cquote\u201d Hollywood actors, these are real people, looking the way they look and doing the things that they do every day\u2026 We did not modify anyone\u2019s look or persona in anyway, this is truly authentic.<\/p>\n
