In my last post on the Sony \u201chack\u201d I called the leaked information a \u201cnon-stop fountain of information\u201d. Many people expressed outrage in the comments over this choice of words\u2026 FYI: A \u201cfountain of information\u201d and stolen data\/a foreign attack aren\u2019t mutually exclusive. Also, every company should probably password-protect their files and encrypt data. I won\u2019t even get into the part where company executives used their work email to make racist and unprofessional comments about the people they do business with. <\/p>\n

Leaking personal, financial, and healthcare details of employees is an awful (and illegal) thing to do. As far as everything else that was leaked, it\u2019s hard to feel bad for Sony as a corporation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, a letter obtained by Motherboard reveals that Sony has threatened to sue Twitter for \u201cdisseminating stolen information\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sony contacted Twitter because the account \u201c@bikinrobotarmy\u201d has been posting screenshots of leaked Sony emails. Sony\u2019s lawyer David Boies asked Twitter to pass the letter on to the infringing account, which Twitter did.<\/p>\n

Twitter hasn\u2019t given an official response, but say they don\u2019t allow tweets that contain private information about others. However, tweets containing links to sites that contain private information do not violate Twitter\u2019s rules.<\/p>\n

Sony\u2019s letter isn\u2019t an official DMCA takedown request, it\u2019s just a threat\u2026 for now.<\/p>\n
