The story of Guns N\u2019 Roses is reportedly being adapted into a feature film. Marc Canter, co-author of a 2008 book about the band called Reckless Road, claims that the biopic will be \u201c[done] right\u201d, \u201cno shortcuts\u201d, and will feature \u201ca few A-list [actors]\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you find out who is making the movie, you will then understand that it will be very cool,\u201d Canter wrote on the Guns N\u2019 Roses website MyGNRForum (via Henne Music). Although no studio, producers or director have been announced, the project has apparently been in development for \u201cabout four months\u201d, and Canter is consulting on the screenplay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people I\u2019m working with are the best ones to do this project,\u201d he explained. \u201c[Reckless Road] tells the killer rock\u2019n\u2019roll story of the best band around … [and the film is] just going to KICK ASS! In no way will it be a cheesy movie like [2001 Mark Wahlberg vehicle] Rock Star … It will bring a whole new slew of fans and sell a shitload of records for the band.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first proposal to make a movie about Guns N\u2019 Roses. In 2012, the band\u2019s former drummer Matt Sorum said he was \u201cin talks about with a couple of pretty big people\u201d about writing the script to a biopic. \u201cIf you look at rock\u2019n\u2019roll movies … like Mark Wahlberg and Rock Star \u2026 they\u2019ve never been done right \u2026 [With Guns N\u2019 Roses] there was a much sort of more street, dark undercurrent happening that could be great on film.\u201d<\/p>\n

Slash, however, has been much less enthusiastic: \u201cI don\u2019t think rock\u2019n\u2019roll translates in the movies,\u201d he told the Belfast Telegraph earlier this year. \u201cI don\u2019t think they really get the gritty vibe of what it\u2019s like \u2026 [and] I would not like to see a Guns N\u2019 Roses biopic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite their central roles in the band\u2019s 1987 classic, Appetite for Destruction, as well as in the book Reckless Road, neither Sorum nor Slash are currently members of Guns N\u2019 Roses. Still led by Axl Rose, the group\u2019s current lineup is allegedly working on a new studio LP and their first remix album.<\/p>\n
