{"id":4665,"date":"2014-10-03T05:06:47","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T05:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skylight.gr\/administrator_wordpress\/index.php\/2014\/10\/03\/personal-copying-exception-comes-into-effect-in-uk-ip-law\/"},"modified":"2014-10-03T05:06:47","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T05:06:47","slug":"personal-copying-exception-comes-into-effect-in-uk-ip-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2014\/10\/03\/personal-copying-exception-comes-into-effect-in-uk-ip-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Personal copying exception comes into effect in UK IP law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/thumb\/a\/ae\/Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg\/1200px-Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg.png\" border=\"0\" width=\"218\" height=\"109\" \/><br \/>Changes to IP law that allow consumers to legally make copies of content for personal use have come into effect.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing of files with friends or family will remain illegal, however  the new measures will give consumers greater freedom over the use of  their purchases.<\/p>\n<p>According to the government, the reforms will contribute \u00a3500m to the UK government within the next ten years.  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>The new measures came into effect from October 1, and also included  an exception to \u201ccopyright for parody caricature and pastiche.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Improvements have also been made to the rules governing the use of  quotations, allowing limited, fair and proportionate use of material  without the permission of the copyright holder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aim of these reforms is to support the reasonable use of  creative content, without undermining copyright\u2019s important role in  supporting the creative industries,\u201d said the government in a  statement.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Intellectual Property, Baroness Neville-Rolfe, said:  \u201cThese changes are going to bring our IP laws into the 21st century.
