Metallica\u2019s Lars Ulrich has revealed himself an unlikely Oasis lover, describing the Britpop band as \u201cthe soundtrack to [his] life for the last 20 years\u201d.<\/p>\n

The drummer, 50, spoke about the \u201chuge impact\u201d the group has had on him since he first heard their track \u201cSupersonic\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shortly afterwards, he read an Oasis interview littered with swear words. Sold by their \u201cnot giving a fuck\u201d attitude, a \u201clong and very rewarding \u201cI have stories and pictures in my mind that go along with everything, from the first time I heard particular songs and read certain articles, to hearing about the band\u2019s shenanigans and festivities,\u201d he wrote in a Guardian blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201c[Oasis\u2019] sound, approach and way of looking at the world has had a huge impact on me and helped shape who I am today.\u201d<\/p>\n Ulrich also paid tribute to the cultural phenomenon the band became in the Nineties as they \u201ccut across all shapes, sizes, boundaries and classes\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody knew Oasis and in some way were impacted by them\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd if they didn\u2019t love them, it was often the polarising opposite. But most importantly, nobody didn\u2019t care. Everyone had an opinion. Nobody ignored them. No one.\u201d<\/p>\n Ulrich shared an anecdote in which he met Oasis at one of their 1994 club gigs, a \u201cGodforsaken hole in the wall\u201d in New Jersey. The band were lacking a lighting technician and, as Ulrich was \u201cthe only one in the building that knew the songs\u201d, he stepped in to help.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Ulrich said that he was inspired to stop taking cocaine<\/a> after reading an interview with Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.<\/p>\n His revelations coincide with the reissue of Oasis\u2019 classic 1995 album, (What\u2019s the Story) Morning Glory this week.<\/p>\n![](\"http:\/\/cdncache-a.akamaihd.net\/items\/it\/img\/arrow-10x10.png\"){kind=icon}
