Following the death of frontman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2014\/mar\/24\/dave-brockie-thrash-metal-gwar-dead-oderus-urungus\">Dave Brockie<\/a>, the costumed metal band will be led by a pair of demonic musicians, including a towering vocalist with blood-spurting breasts.  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>Vulvatron had her stage debut in Chicago on 12 September,  performing with Gwar at Riot Fest. From now on, she will share  microphone duties with the corpulent vocalist Bl\u00f6thar \u2013 an armoured  Scumdog who boasts shoulder-antlers and an udder. Together, according to  Gwar\u2019s mythology, they will lead a quest for the departed Oderus  Urungus.<\/p>\n<p>In real life, Vulvatron is the alter-ego of musician and  artist Kim Dylla, who performed at Gwar\u2019s 2013 barbecue and festival as  part of the band Kung Fu Dykes. As Wondering Sound\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wonderingsound.com\/feature\/vulvatron-gwar-new-frontwoman-metal\/\">Kim Kelly pointed out<\/a>,  Dylla is Gwar\u2019s first female member since back-up singer\/dancer  Danielle Stampe left in 2000. Unlike Stampe\u2019s Slymenstra Hymen or prior  characters like Amazina and Temptress, Vulvatron is not a side-show to  the male-dominated band: she \u201ccommand[s] a central role\u201d, according to  Kelly, \u201cstepping away from her mic only long enough to battle her  monstrous bandmates or spray the audience with goo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVulvatron is not dancing, or breathing fire, or keeping the  slaves in line (though one assumes she\u2019ll be adept at all three),\u201d  Kelly wrote. \u201cShe\u2019s nobody\u2019s girlfriend, or groupie or background  dancer; Vulvatron is in charge &#8230; Representation matters, and now, all  of a sudden, there\u2019s a big, brash, bold new female personality on stage  with a legendary band. Moreover, she\u2019s just as gross and goofy as her  male bandmates, whether she\u2019s slaying dinosaurs or disemboweling Nazi  skinheads onstage or drenching her minions with &#8230; [artificial]  boob-blood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gwar introduced Vulvatron by creating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/VulvatronGwar\/info\">official Facebook<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vulvatrongwar\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/vulvatrongwar\">Instagram<\/a> accounts. \u201cMy protocols are strained communicating through these  ancient Earth systems,\u201d she tweeted. \u201cNext they will tell me you humans  still use phones.\u201d The group is next due to perform in Virginia on 15  October, kicking off a two-month North American tour.<\/p>\n<p>Source: The Guardian<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gwar have replaced their late lead singer with a warrior called Vulvatron.
