Dieter Meier\u2019 best known for his lead vocals with electronic pioneers YELLO and their massive hit singles ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘The Race’ has at the age of 69 announced the release of his debut solo album ‘OUT OF CHAOS’ with the worldwide launch of ‘Loveblind’ Video! Be it performance art, his work with YELLO, or his winery (not to mention being a millionare industrailist and professional poker player) Swiss artist Dieter Meier dislikes routine, which we ordinarily call day-to-day-life. To him it\u2019s spells in capital letters DAY-TO-DAY-LIFE. An instigation! He embraces challenge.<\/p>\n

Consistently, his solo debut album which is released on the 14th April 2014 on Staatskat is called “OUT OF CHAOS”, a reference to chaos itself; to the possibility that at least theoretically, everything is achievable anytime. On the other hand the concept of chaos is probably nothing but a daring hypothesis in itself.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the news of his debut solo solo album, Dieter Meier has posted a worldwide exclusive video for album track ‘Loveblind’ which is available right now with the pre-oder of the album on iTunes. <\/p>\n

Loveblind is one of the most tender moments on the album and sounds like an ex lover trying to recover from the blues under the sea. Yes things are never quite the ‘norm’ with Dieter Meier who stars in the video and fully conceptualised! <\/p>\n

Over the course of the last few years, Dieter Meier\u2019s now ready to be released songs have undergone interesting transformations. Meier has taken them on his journeys and adventures, in constant change, out of the darkness and into the brightness of the spotlights on the live stage.<\/p>\n

It all started with a reading tour which accompanyed the film \u201cTouch Yello\u201d when Dieter Meier, inspired by his long term Berlin friend and colleague Marcus Herold, brought along a handful of newly written songs and performed them with Jazz-violinist Tobias Preisig and guitarist Nicolas R\u00fcttimann.<\/p>\n

Meier, who (apart from two exceptions in London and New York) never performed live with YELLO at all, soon fancied the live situation and went on writing new music. Herold brought in Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds-drummer Thomas Wydler and pianist Ephrem L\u00fcchinger and shortly after, newer versions of OUT OF CHAOS songs found their way to the stage including a performance at Montreux Festival.<\/p>\n

Last summer, Meier eventually found an open minded, experimental producer trio in Berlin to record the album with which included Nackt (Warren Suicide, Apparat) Ben Lauber (Apparat), and electro pioneer T.Raumschmiere, all of them big fans of Meier\u2019s work. They all teamed up and headed to record at Chez Ch\u00e9rie Studios in Neuk\u00f6lln (Berlin, Germany) to arrange, re-arrange, discuss, discard, research, jam and eventually record in a series of sessions which has now resulted in OUT OF CHAOS!<\/p>\n

The result is a grand record starring Dieter Meier, standing at the bar of his life and musing about the rivers of time. Sometimes his songs sound like electro-acoustic Yello tracks (“Lazy Night”, “Paradise Game”, “Jimmy”), sometimes like a tender ex-lovers-Blues from under the sea (“Loveblind”, “Annabelle”), sometimes you\u2019d find a post-punk nerve (“Fat Fly”, “Buffoon”) or an ode to a befriended artist, who wrestles through life as a night porter (\u201cNight porter\u201d). At any time, \u201cOUT OF CHAOS\u201d sounds like a magical sound-alchemy made of Chanson, Electro, and Dub.<\/p>\n
