{"id":3749,"date":"2013-11-07T17:24:21","date_gmt":"2013-11-07T17:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skylight.gr\/administrator_wordpress\/index.php\/2013\/11\/07\/def-leppard-sex-pistols-members-team-for-manraze-ep-premiere\/"},"modified":"2013-11-07T17:24:21","modified_gmt":"2013-11-07T17:24:21","slug":"def-leppard-sex-pistols-members-team-for-manraze-ep-premiere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2013\/11\/07\/def-leppard-sex-pistols-members-team-for-manraze-ep-premiere\/","title":{"rendered":"Def Leppard, Sex Pistols Members Team for Manraze &#8211; EP Premiere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fbcdn-profile-a.akamaihd.net\/hprofile-ak-prn1\/c40.40.497.497\/s160x160\/16985_10151288057853931_2042006836_n.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>Manraze \u2013 the trio fronted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/artists\/def-leppard\">Def Leppard<\/a> lead guitarist Phil Collen and consisting of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/artists\/the-sex-pistols\">Sex Pistols<\/a> drummer Paul Cook and bassist Simon Laffy \u2013 will return with a new EP, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/19jZ7aK\">I Surrender<\/a>,  on November 12th.  <!--more-->  Premiering here, the three-song release is a succinct  representation of the group&#8217;s assorted musical approaches, from  Collen&#8217;s soulful, stripped-down &#8220;All I Wanna Do&#8221; and the roaring live  jolt of &#8220;Connected&#8221; to the shimmering, layered studio number &#8220;I  Surrender.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">&#8220;The whole concept of Manraze has always been doing exactly what we want, and that involves being quite diverse,&#8221; Collen tells Rolling Stone. &#8220;I Surrender represents that diversity. I&#8217;ve been told that this song sounds like a combination of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/artists\/the-police\">the Police<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/artists\/pink-floyd\">Pink Floyd<\/a>, the Sex Pistols and Def Leppard. I take that as a compliment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">The title track dates  back eight years, according to Collen, who had forgotten about the song  after Manraze first attempted it soon after their 2004 formation. While  on tour in 2012, it finally took shape. With backing vocals from Debbi  Blackwell-Cook (who also appears on &#8220;All I Wanna Do&#8221;) and the capable  rhythms of Cook and Lafffy, Collen ranks &#8220;I Surrender&#8221; as Manraze&#8217;s  finest moment to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxmsonormal\">When Manraze isn&#8217;t working together,  Collen forges on with his day job with Def Leppard. Meanwhile Cook has  been collaborating with both Edwyn Collins and original U.K. punks  Subway Sect.
