On Friday 2nd August, Steve Hillage premiered the cutting edge promo video for\u00a0Rovo\u00a0and System 7\u2019s new single \u201cHinotori.\u201d \u00a0Several hours later the video was mysteriously removed from YouTube. \u00a0Today, the video, directed by Tokyo\u2019s Mood Magic, has been re-uploaded on YouTube and can be viewed HERE<\/a><\/strong>. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Steve Hillage, one of the original members of the British\u00a0prog\u00a0rock band GONG, wants to set the record straight about this ground-breaking promo video which combines live performance footage with state-of-the-art Japanese animation. \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cThe video was initially taken down in connection with the use of original\u00a0Hinotori\u00a0images from theManga\u00a0animation pioneer Osamu\u00a0Tezuka, who has been a huge influence on the Phoenix Rising project,\u201d says Hillage. \u00a0\u201cTezuka\u00a0Productions, the Japanese company that manages the\u00a0Tezuka\u00a0creative legacy, \u00a0demanded\u00a0a change in the precise wording of the copyright notice after the end of the video. This has now been resolved. \u00a0Our Japanese video production company wish to apologise for the temporary YouTube removal.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span>The\u00a0Hinotori\u00a0promo video is a taster from\u00a0a collaboration\u00a0between System 7 and Japan\u2019s leading progressive rock band, ROVO, culminating in the new studio album PHOENIX RISING (released in the UK on 23 September). \u00a0The album, produced by Steve Hillage and ROVO, is followed by concerts at Manchester Ritz\u00a0(March 7) and London o2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (March 8).\u00a0\u00a0Tickets \u00a0and\u00a0a free download of the 5-track\u00a0Hinotori\u00a0EP are available from\u00a0Music Glue<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0

<\/span>ROVOare a Japanese progressive rock\/jam band featuring two drummers, bass and keyboards, led by guitarist Seiichi Yamamoto and electric violinist Yuji\u00a0Katsui. \u00a0SYSTEM 7\u00a0is comprised of Steve Hillage and\u00a0Miquette\u00a0Giraudy, who present tech-house beats and live playing; a major influence on the development of psychedelic ambient and\u00a0electronica. \u00a0The gigs will feature electronic beats and live instrumentation, made possible by the skilled musicianship of eight players, including two live drummers.Hillage\u2019s\u00a0unique electric guitar style will embody extensive soloing and duets with the electric violin ofRovo’s\u00a0Yuji\u00a0Katsui.<\/p>\n
