Rather than simply wishing to die, the song explores the possibility that someone may want an escape from misery, with suicidal ideas providing a scary feeling of comfort because they appear to offer a way out. Musically, the track begins with sluggish post-punk sounds and a distinctive production that recalls 1980s audio aesthetics. However, when the guitars get heavier, the song takes on a grungier tone, which works well in contrast to its typically dynamic and melodic style. This constant switch between softer and more aggressive moments gives the music a sense of a journey between life and death, with the arrangement changing between sensitivity and intensity. The synths provide a deeper tone to the mix, increasing the feeling of discomfort and mental reflection. Around 2:12, a highly expressive guitar solo transforms the song into a darker, almost gothic tone, suggesting London After Midnight and their atmospheric approach to gothic rock. From there, the guitar takes on an expressive voice of its own, driving the song to its conclusion. “Comfort” works because the music does more than just represent the sadness of its subject matter; rather, its changing sounds, dynamics, and progressively darker atmosphere help the listener feel the chaos of emotions at the heart of the song.

https://yugoslaviaband.bandcamp.com

https://www.instagram.com/yugoslaviaband

According to the band, “Comfort” looks at the complex relationship that people might have with…

[14,5
543,284,455,5268
post-31566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pop-rock-reviews","category-reviews","tag-darkwave","tag-goth","tag-post-punk","tag-yugoslavia
["GET
