Despite being recorded by four separate producers in four studios, the album seems exceptionally unified, due to its professional production and great songwriting. “Falling Up” begins with enthusiastic pub-rock energy typical of The Who and The Jam, while the title tune incorporates humorous grooves and minor Rolling Stones influences. “Hideaway” features ethereal electronic textures and a dreamy 1980s-inspired chorus, while “Magnifying Glass” calms things down with expansive guitars, atmospheric synths, and an amazing stereo mix that matches the sentimental lyrics. The record continually changes styles without losing its identity. “Who We Are” features punk-edged rhythms and an epic chorus, “Overwhelmed” has a classic rock vibe with backing vocals inspired by the 1960s, and “Sweet Charlene” combines fast guitars and keyboards in a way that reminds one of The Killers. “Bitter Moon” stands out for its exotic percussion, lyrical guitar work, and warm soft rock melodies, showing Couch’s ability to incorporate catchy lyrics with complex emotions and powerful production. The album’s energy is maintained by its closing songs. “Long Lost Daze of Romance” revisits traditional rock with groove-driven beats and nostalgic Rolling Stones overtones, while “Lifeline” closes the album on a high note, incorporating dance-rock beats, bright synthesisers, and catchy hooks typical of the Cars. Where the Sidewalk Ends is a really entertaining album that combines classic rock inspirations with a fresh modern approach. The songs are full of melody, nostalgic without being old-fashioned, and continuously supported by outstanding production (especially the mastering by Jonas Wilson).

Where The Sidewalk Ends by Jonny Couch

https://jonnycouch.bandcamp.com

https://www.facebook.com/jonnycouch

https://www.instagram.com/jonnycouchmusic

After seven years, Jonny Couch returns with Where the Sidewalk Ends, his most ambitious album…

[14,5
226,5161,290
post-31231","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pop-rock-reviews","category-reviews","tag-classic-rock","tag-jonny-couch","tag-punk
["GET
