ANTHRAX <\/strong>have today released ‘The Edge Of Perfection<\/strong>‘, the second single from their long-awaited 12th full-length studio album Cursum Perficio <\/strong><\/em>out September 18 <\/strong>via via Nuclear Blast Records <\/strong>and Megaforce Records <\/strong>(North America). The new single is highlighted by clean guitar echoes and cymbals that gently shake until a blastbeat blows open the doors. Guitars buzz like a motorboat on the River Styx, making waves through the darkness. In their wake, a crushing rhythm trails the melody of lead singer Joey Belladonna<\/strong>\u2019s lament, \u201cMy heart breaks\u2026I\u2019m on the edge\u2026I\u2019m on the edge of perfection<\/em>.\u201d <\/em>

For the video, the multi-GRAMMY\u00ae Award-nominated New York hard rock titans – Scott Ian<\/strong> (guitar), Charlie Benante<\/strong> (drums), Frank Bello<\/strong> (bass), Joey Belladonna<\/strong> (vocals), and Jonathan Donais<\/strong> (guitar) – teamed up with director and Academy Award-winner Joel Harlow<\/strong> (Star Trek and Alice in Wonderland) to create a spectacular cinematic experience that takes the hero from a dream into an evening of magic where he encounters underworld evil, interspersed with live performance footage. The clip includes appearances from martial artist Wes Scarpias<\/strong>, actress Ashley Edner-Tancharoen<\/strong>, actor Troy James<\/strong>, actor and Academy-Award winning make-up and special effects creator <\/em>Rick Baker<\/strong>, actor Rod Maxwell<\/strong> and actor Fedor Steer<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the apex predator of Anthrax songs,\u201d <\/em>grins Ian<\/strong>. \u201cI think it\u2019s the best song we\u2019ve ever written and the best thing I\u2019ve ever been a part of creatively. What\u2019s the most powerful emotion that moves me more than anything? Of course, it\u2019s love. Nothing moves me like the deep feeling that I get from my wife and son. I\u2019m living on that edge for the rest of my life. This is mine, but there are a lot of ways to ruin it. I\u2019ve ruined it in past iterations of my life, but it got me to where I am. Love is perfection, and I like being on the edge of it. I don\u2019t want everything to be about all of the same shit. This record has a whole bunch of love, a whole bunch of fun, and a little hate.\u201d<\/em>

‘The Edge Of Perfection<\/strong>‘ follows Cursum Perficio<\/strong><\/em>\u2019s first single and video, ‘It\u2019s For The Kids<\/strong>‘. <\/strong>It\u2019s a classic ANTHRAX<\/strong> ripper locked and loaded with buzzsaw-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and a howling and head-banging hook. Cursum Perficio<\/strong><\/em> marks the band\u2019s first record in ten years since 2016\u2019s For All Kings<\/strong><\/em>, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard<\/em> 200. The phrase Cursum Perficio<\/em><\/strong> is Latin for \u201cMy journey has come to an end<\/em>,\u201d<\/em>\u201cMy journey is over<\/em>,\u201d<\/em> or \u201cI complete my journey<\/em>.\u201d <\/em>It proves apropos for such a complete body of work.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band dove into recording Cursum Perficio<\/strong><\/em> in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl<\/strong>\u2019s Studio 606<\/strong> in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston<\/strong> and ANTHRAX<\/strong>, the result is an album that\u2019s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
