As the drums enter, they create an almost playful rhythm beneath the layers of dreamy guitars, resulting in a fascinating mix of post-punk, darkwave, and shoegaze. Musically, the song brings out the spirit of Joy Division, early The Cure, and The Chameleons while maintaining its own distinct identity. The intentionally “distant” production in the audio mix enhances the song’s feelings, emphasising the sense of isolation and hazy reality described in the lyrics. Inspired by Chuang Tzu’s philosophical conundrum, “Whether one is a man dreaming of being a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming of being a man,” the song looks at the uncomfortable feeling of being trapped halfway between dreams and waking up. Lyrics like “Something’s happening to me, I can’t stop dreaming even though I’m wide awake” powerfully communicate this psychological uncertainty, while the frequently used phrase “You’re so weird and wired” acts as both an individual evaluation and a symbol for mental instability. The sweet melancholic vocal performance combines perfectly with the atmospheric instrumentation, merging music and lyrics into a single immersive sensation. The accompanying black-and-white video (made by Jer Herring at SpeedMop Video) perfectly complements the song’s surreal atmosphere. Its quick eye movement visuals and nostalgic visual style recall the iconic videos of old-school darkwave and post-punk bands, increasing the sense of disorientation between reality and fantasy. With its hypnotic melodies, complex guitar work, and insightful concept, You’re So Wired is an atmospheric adventure that rewards repeat listening, particularly through headphones, when each layer of the production exposes another small element.

https://projektrecords.bandcamp.com

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561525593070

https://www.instagram.com/lowsundaymusic

Lowsunday’s You’re So Wired immediately puts the listener in a hazy audio landscape, complete with…

[14,5
543,4776,436
post-30977","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pop-rock-reviews","category-reviews","tag-darkwave","tag-lowsunday","tag-shoegaze
["GET
