The album takes an easy-listening approach, focusing on ambient jazz, soul, and art-pop forms, with warm, natural music that feels like it could have been recorded in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Every instrument has space to take in oxygen, allowing Joan Wasser’s beautiful voice to be the focal point of each performance. Among the highlights, “I Defy” featuring Krystle Warren takes a slightly funkier turn, with the vocal duo creating vibrant chemistry over groovy percussion and beautiful music. “Save Me,” with Iggy Pop, provides a little extra energy without losing the album’s personal vibe. The composition pointed to progressive rock influences that reminded me of Van der Graaf Generator, while Iggy Pop’s distinct voice brought maturity, grit, and feelings to the slow-burning performance. Meanwhile, “We Don’t Own It” adopts an elegant 1980s art-pop aesthetic, capturing Sade’s classy atmosphere with its minimal groove and bittersweet melancholy. Through Real Life Evolution, Joan As Police Woman shows that classic songwriting can do well when revisited with maturity and careful consideration. Rather of just repeating known material, she transforms it with clever new arrangements, deeply moving performances, and balanced production. The end result is an album full of warmth, nostalgia, and low-key intensity that rewards attentive listening and functions as both a tribute to the original record and a strong artistic statement on its own.

Real Life Evolution (Album,2026) by Joan As Police Woman

https://joanaspolicewoman.bandcamp.com

https://www.facebook.com/joanaspolicewoman

https://www.instagram.com/joanaspolicewoman

[16,5
465,4958,289
post-30971","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-jazz-blues-reviews","category-reviews","tag-jazz","tag-joan-as-police-woman","tag-soul
["GET
