Before Katie Haley&#8217;s ethereal vocals develop, layers of beautiful guitars create an atmospheric setting that gives the song its unique dream pop identity. Her performance smoothly goes beyond the instrumentation, bringing the listener to a world of peaceful optimism, beauty, and melancholy.&nbsp;One of the most unforgettable parts of the song is the chorus. Its catchy melodies recall the sounds of Dolores O&#8217;Riordan&#8217;s sentimental vocal style from The Cranberries, and its vibrant guitar arrangements are reflective of the ethereal sounds of bands like Lush. Soft Science builds on the sounds of the 1990s to produce something that feels modern and surprisingly personal&nbsp;as opposed simply revisiting previous sounds. The inventive guitar lead is a very pleasant aspect. Inspired by the band&#8217;s experimentation with backwards guitar methods, the solo creates an interesting atmosphere that slowly challenges the listener&#8217;s expectations. Though brief, it nicely matches the arrangement&#8217;s hypnotic flow, offering a touch of musical excitement without detracting from the song&#8217;s smooth pace. The production is similarly excellent. The audio mix places the vocals at the &#8220;heart&#8221;&nbsp;of the piece, although they function almost like another instrument in the arrangement, merging organically with the guitars rather than just sitting above them in the audio mix. The ethereal electronics and soft backing sounds create the sensation of space, while the rhythm section keeps a soft pulse that lends the song an obvious&nbsp;movement beneath&nbsp;its lovely sadness. Overall, &#8220;Spinning&#8221; is a well created dream pop song that combines nostalgia with creativity.
