The record combines alternative rock, post-punk, and electronic production to create a consistent, darkly spiritual sound. &#8220;The Summer Talking&#8221; and &#8220;Bang Bang&#8221; are two tracks that explore emotional exhaustion and media overload through laid-back but mysterious arrangements. &#8220;Trust Me I&#8217;m A Psychopath&#8221; and &#8220;Just The English Way&#8221; expand the album&#8217;s criticism by combining sarcastic lyrics with post-punk and minimalist electronic textures, typical of The Fall in tone and attitude. &#8220;We Are Breach&#8221; and &#8220;Home Front Truths&#8221; are more intense parts that highlight themes of surveillance, paranoia, and social disconnection, while &#8220;Commercial Road&#8221; and &#8220;The Bodies Are Under The Bus Again&#8221; underscore the commercialisation of emotion and ethical apathy. The production remains ethereal throughout, finding a balance between rhythm and tension. The album&#8217;s sound ranges from pure electronic minimalism to complex alternative rock layering, with vocals often acting as spoken-word comment rather than typical singing. This gives the record a direct, almost aggressive feel, with lyrics acting as social insights rather than abstractions. Overall, Re: GenX is a short but powerful statement, half social criticism, half dystopian soundtrack, that combines post-punk attitude with modern electronic and alternative rock aesthetics.
