The song creates an unexpected alien mood\u00a0with layers of unusual sounds that have a mechanical and theatrical atmosphere. Flashes of glam rock appear as the song falls into its main framework, recalling Marc Bolan&#8217;s enthusiastic personality. This isn&#8217;t retro revivalism, though. A post-apocalyptic, industrial lens filters the glam vibes, creating a hybrid sound that switches between harsh experimental sounds and dream pop &#8220;smoke.&#8221; Melody and distortion are effectively balanced in the development. The music is easy to understand due to a rhythmic pattern that lies behind the industrial elements. Malyque Smith&#8217;s vocals successfully ride the contrast, moving between the nearly obsessive refrain, &#8220;She&#8217;s never gonna love me,&#8221; and humorous repetition, &#8220;ba ba ba,&#8221; and &#8220;sha na na.&#8221; Heartbreak turns into a bizarre motto when the repetition becomes hypnotic. This aesthetic paradox is visually underscored in the accompanying video. Retro futurism and wicked humour are combined in this Metropolis-inspired black-and-white film. Creatures that look dolls and the characters of The Muppet Show seem to be invading a dystopian cityscape, mixing satire, nostalgia, and technophobia into one bizarre scene. Overall, &#8220;She&#8217;s Never Gonna Love Me&#8221; is a mash-up of eras and moods: glam meets industrial destruction; humour meets philosophical coldness.
