Joan Wasser and her collaborators Will Graefe and Jeremy Gustin rearrange the song, which was originally based on a 6/8 triplet-based soul ballad structure, into a more adventurous folk-jazz arrangement that she characterises as Van Morrison-like. The performance begins with indie-folk sounds, including acoustic guitar strums and soft, jazzy percussion. The groove is soft but contemporary, giving the music a moving beat. Wasser sings in a nostalgic folk-rock style that gently recalls Robert Plant’s lyrical warmth, Joni Mitchell’s vulnerability, and PJ Harvey’s heartfelt authenticity while maintaining her own distinct character. There’s a lovely musical contrast at work: the guitar creates a calm groove, while the vocals reveal a pleasant sadness. The music resides in a crossover area where loneliness meets optimism, where light and darkness “live” together. Around 2:33, the atmosphere changes, and the piano and vocals join in a short, Soul-inspired section before the acoustic guitar returns, regaining the indie-folk sound and leading the piece back into its melancholy mood. Lyrically, “Anyone” is both touching and sensitive. Lines like “Anyone can see through me/But you’re not anyone” describe the fragile journey from defensive isolation to mental openness. The song is about trust, shelter, and the inner strength needed to let someone actually see you.

https://www.joanaspolicewoman.com/

https://joanaspolicewoman.bandcamp.com

https://www.instagram.com/joanaspolicewoman

“Anyone” by Joan As Police Woman returns in a live performance that reconsiders the now-classic…

[14,5
283,1396,2838,4958
post-29805","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pop-rock-reviews","category-reviews","tag-folk","tag-folk-rock","tag-indie-folk","tag-joan-as-police-woman
["GET
