Instead of simply revisiting the original, this cover version sees the song as both a tribute and a metamorphosis. The music begins with a groovy beat and experimental electronic sounds that &nbsp;bring to mind Bowie&#8217;s times of serious electronic and avant-garde experimentation. As vocals join the mix, the mood becomes much darker than the original. There&#8217;s a distinct feeling of melancholy, which is both an expression of Bowie&#8217;s absence and an intentional choice to approach the song through a darkwave perspective. Vocally, the performance is ethereal, soft, and mysterious. The presentation avoids copying, instead expanding the emotional and atmospheric scope of the original work. The darker melodic selections and electronic structure give the track a more deep and philosophical tone, allowing it to stand on its own while remaining true to its origins.
