According to the band, the lyrics represent &#8220;rising out of desperate circumstances with newfound strength,&#8221; something that Paul himself experienced as he recreated a life full of joy and purpose. This personal connection adds depth and meaning to the song. John Treanor co-produced the song, which was mastered by multi-platinum engineer Alex DeYoung (Michael Jackson, BTS, Macy Gray, The Linda Lindas, TSOL). It has a dramatic sense of elegance and controlled chaos. It begins in a wave of fading noise, distortion flashes, and sonic &#8220;explosions,&#8221; creating an atmosphere of chaos before falling into a heavy, fuzzy alternative rock melody. The guitars use Tombstones In Their Eyes&#8217; unique mix of heavy distortion, distorted tones, and flowing atmosphere to place the tune in the band&#8217;s classic psych-rock legacy. The vocals take on a futuristic, ethereal sound, with melodic phrasing that gets even more dreamy and fluid during the chorus. There are times that remind of Tame Impala (psychedelic, floating vocal timbre), Hawkwind (space-rock drive), and The Brian Jonestown Massacre (fuzzy drones and hypnotic performance). This combination gives the track a spaced-out, dreamy feel that contrasts nicely with the heavy, powerful guitars. The melodic vocal line makes the song spiritually relevant by guiding the listener through the distortion-heavy background and emphasizing its theme of finding clarity after chaos. &#8220;Alive and Well&#8221; is a strong and touching musical tribute, created from sorrow but bursting with strength. Its chaotic, deep fuzz, futuristic vocals, and abstract melodic parts combine to create a moving soundscape that reflects Paul Boutin&#8217;s final years of struggle, collapse, and rebirth.
