1. \u201cStarseed\u201d is a collaboration with Young Dirty Bastard. How did this partnership come about, and what drew you to working with YDB specifically?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I met YDB a few years back at a club show. I was familiar with his music. I would see him often at Wu-Tang Clan shows. So we just kept in touch. I had been wanting to work with him for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The track fuses elements from both of your musical backgrounds. How did you approach blending your sound with his to create something cohesive yet fresh?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It came quite natural. Since I can remember, I have always enjoyed fusing my guitar with hip-hop beats. So it was a very enjoyable process. His production definitely has that classic Wu-Tang sound. So  I was immediately immersed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The song explores themes of modern inner-city life while evoking a sense of nostalgia from the late 80s and early 90s. What inspired you to focus on this theme, and what message do you hope listeners take away?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, the roughness and grittiness of the track is a reflection of the environments that I have been in most of my life. YDB grew up in NYC. He was exposed to a lot of the less savory areas of life. So it came natural. I just want people to be able to enjoy that classic Hip-Hop feel that I grew up listening to. I feel that era, which still is strong today, is highly looked over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Being the son of the late guitarist Bruce Cameron, how has your upbringing influenced your musical style and approach to collaboration?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, my father being a musician had little influence over my interest in the art. He passed away when I was only six years old. I didn’t have the easiest life growing up, nor the best influences all the time. So when I found music. Naturally it became my first love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. How was the creative process for \u201cStarseed\u201d? Was it more structured, or did you allow space for improvisation and experimentation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a straightforward process, for the most part. I experimented a lot with the guitars. Both YDB and myself worked on the production. Well I played guitar on it. The beat was made and then I spent time going through different guitar tones and melodies. I was asked to make the guitar sing. So I went with the advice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. The official video for \u201cStarseed\u201d is set to release on October 31st. What can fans expect visually, and how does the video complement the song\u2019s narrative?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a fun video. That’s really the principal.the majority of the footage was actually lost. So I pieced it together. Most of the shots we used were just us in a hotel in Times Square, NYC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. You have a six-song EP coming in January. Can you share how \u201cStarseed\u201d fits within the larger theme or sound of the EP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new EP is definitely a more hip-hop oriented album. With every song having guitar work that somehow fits in and sounds cohesive. I really wanted to lyrically explore on the more dark parts of my life. So as far as content and sound. Listeners can expect more tracks with the same feel as Starseed. There is actually another song on the record that is produced by YDB. It all fits very well! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Hip-hop and contemporary urban music have evolved significantly over the years. How do you balance paying homage to the classic era while keeping your music modern and relevant?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have always been the progressive type of artists. Someone who likes to keep things the way they are, with some enhancements. I definitely used that philosophy on this record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Collaborating with another artist often involves merging creative visions. What was the biggest challenge you faced during this collaboration, and how did you overcome it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would say the biggest challenge was finding the right feel. The style of guitar playing. It’s a unique blend. So to find the right tones to merge with YDB’s voice and still sound cohesive was a big challenge. I had to expand my way of thinking as a guitar player. There are guitars all over hip-hop, but they are not done in the traditional, dirty rock style that I want to here more of. Definitely didn’t want to fake it and just make something beautiful. I wanted to make sure my DNA was it. That signature Riley Jaxon sound. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Looking ahead, what are your goals as an artist for the next year, especially following this EP release?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just want to keep making great music. I have some other collaboration projects in the works with some more reputable artists. I wish I could talk about it, it’s very exciting. But I can say that you can expect some unexpected things from me coming in the next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
