Powerful riffs and a consistent rhythmic punch drive the track&#8217;s energetic alternative rock sound, which is reminds one of the Foo Fighters. Future synth layers soon enter, adding a cool electronic glamour characteristic of Orgy and Depeche Mode. The dreamy, kaleidoscopic complexity of Jeremiah Rouse&#8217;s guitar work is\u00a0futuristic and nostalgic, reminding of Jimmy Page seen through a space-rock mirror. The song takes on a psychedelic, trance-like vibe as the vocals expand, typical of Tame Impala&#8217;s drifting rhythms. Everything gets boosted by the chorus, which combines light, spaced-out melodies with rough guitar edges to create a sound that is both spaced-outand strongly driven. Rouse uses the famous Heaven&#8217;s Gate cult as a metaphor for desire, escape, and humanity&#8217;s search for purpose beyond Earth rather than as a tragedy in his lyrics.
