Linds Sais appears with an unashamed attitude and emotional honesty on her Glitter Cowgirl EP, a musical\u00a0effort about love, self-worth, and the bizarre disorientation of digital-age relationships. Sais’ diverse mix of R&B, pop, funk, country-rock,\u00a0results in an EP\u00a0that is both\u00a0sensitive and politically engaged, packaged in professional\u00a0production and performed with vocal sophistication. The excellent track “Golden Hour,” \u00a0sets the mood both musically and lyrically. Set to a smooth, mid-tempo beat, the music pokes fun at selfie culture and the controlled aesthetics of social media while still finding real beauty in the image-making daily life. Sais’ vocals, smooth and playful, with Lauryn Hill-style phrasing, add soul to the sarcasm. “You look so good, it’s obnoxious,” she sings, crossing the line between confidence and criticism. “Oxygen” follows, featuring funky basslines and soft\u00a0vocals. This song goes heavily into R&B area, overflowing with emotion and sexuality. It’s a love song that inspires both joy and departure, creating a metaphor for love as actual oxygen: necessary, addictive, nevertheless ultimately short. Sais’ vocal layering and control of emotions raise this to one of the EP’s most musically completed tracks. The title track, “Glitter Cowgirl,” is a song\u00a0about revenge and self-reclamation. The words are clear, theatrical: “What in the Glitter Cowgirl is going on here?” she wonders, as if she’s starring in her own cosmic Western. With references to Barbie, snakes, space cowboys, and disco, Sais creates an amazing pop story that is equal parts kitsch and strong. The combination of country vibes and electronic music results in a particular\u00a0and addicting single that perfectly determines the EP’s mood. “2 Hot Weeks of You” goes into summer-fling fiction, providing a humorous epilogue on a broken relationship. With lyrics like “If you’re the sun, you’d be like, ‘Psych, this was nice, we’re going with a different latitude,'” the song combines humor with sadness, covered in light melodies and\u00a0pop-rock music. “As I Am” takes things easy with acoustic guitar lines and pleasant country-rock sounds. The song expresses unconditional love, cutting through gossip and criticism to find the warmth of seeing someone for who they are, warts and all. With its\u00a0themes and catchy\u00a0sound, this song appears to be an appropriate fit for the country-pop charts in the United States. The Glitter Cowgirl EP’s outstanding audio production is what truly ties it together. Each tune seems broad, clear, and multilayered allowing Sais’ expressive voice to come to life. The EP’s dramatic highs and lows are balanced by musical variance, but it never feels disorganized. Instead, it seems like scrolling through a perfectly wild Instagram feed\u2014beautiful, biting, and surprisingly affecting. Sais uses humor, vulnerability, and a fantastic voice to transform the chaos of 21st-century relationships into something significant powerful, and entertaining as hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
