Tian Qiyi draws heavily on their parental heritage, combining their father&#8217;s post-punk and dub experimentation with the complex soundscapes of their mother&#8217;s Chinese cultural roots to create a sound that is uniquely theirs. The song begins with traditional Chinese percussion, which puts\u00a0the listener in a spiritual and ritual environment. At precisely 0:18, the rhythm changes into a moving kaleidoscope of psychedelic folk, similar to the mystical spirit of bands like Kula Shaker and looking back to the acoustic warmth of 1970s folk rock. Watch the Sunrise is more than just a song; it&#8217;s an adventure. Dreamy, reverbed\u00a0vocals move over sophisticated levels of music, merging indie rock vocal styles with traditional folk orchestration.
