Having issued \u2018Let The Flowers Grow\u2019 (a surprise duet with Boy George) as a standalone single in late 2024, original post-punk icon Peter Murphy<\/strong> has followed it in 2025 with the majestic synth-punk\/funk hybrid \u2018Swoon\u2019 (featuring Trent Reznor) and the stridently epic ‘The Artroom Wonder\u2019 (featuring Justin Chancellor of Tool).

Both singles are included on Murphy\u2019s new album, \u2018Silver Shade\u2019, which is out today (9th May) on 2xLP, CD and digitally via Metropolis Records, while \u2018Let The Flowers Grow\u2019 has been added to the tracklisting as a bonus song.

Produced by Youth (Pink Floyd, The Verve, Crowded House, member of Killing Joke, The Orb, The Firemen) at his studio in Spain, \u2018Silver Shade\u2019 is Murphy\u2019s tenth studio album and a long-awaited follow-up to \u2018Lion\u2019, which the pair worked on together a decade ago. A symbiotic relationship born of artistic collaboration, Murphy states that \u201cthis new album is as powerful as any of my work to date.\u201d<\/em>

The album title song features another guest vocal contribution from Reznor, while Danny Carey of Tool plays drums. \u201c’Silver Shade’ captures the stillness after the storm; haunted, reflective and raw,\u201d <\/em>explains Murphy. “It is about a King letting go of his slaves. It\u2019s not about nostalgia or reinvention, but quiet reckoning.\u201d<\/em>

Peter Murphy\u2019s solo career began in 1986 with the release of \u2018Should The World Fail To Fall Apart\u2019, with this and his eight other studio albums to date spawning fan favourites such as \u2018Cuts You Up\u2019, \u2018A Strange Kind Of Love\u2019, \u2018All Night Long\u2019, \u2018Indigo Eyes\u2019, \u2018The Prince & Old Lady Shade\u2019 and \u2018I\u2019ll Fall With Your Knife\u2019.

Prior to this, Murphy had fronted Bauhaus, who emerged from the fertile UK post-punk scene in 1979 with the release of their debut single, \u2018Bela Lugosi\u2019s Dead\u2019, often considered to be the very first gothic rock record. The band went on to record four seminal albums before initially splitting in 1983, as well as further classic singles such as \u2018Dark Entries\u2019, \u2018The Passion Of Lovers\u2019, \u2018Lagartija Nick\u2019 and \u2018She’s In Parties\u2019. They also had a UK Top 20 hit with a cover version of \u2018Ziggy Stardust\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
