2025 sees The Godfathers celebrate the historic milestone of the 40th anniversary since their formation with multiple record releases as well as tours & festivals across the UK, Europe and around the world.

An 18-track compilation entitled\u00a0Electric D\u00e9j\u00e0 Vu<\/em>\u00a0featuring numbers personally selected by The Godfathers\u2019 founder and frontman Peter Coyne from the band\u2019s three most recent critically acclaimed studio albums – 2013\u2019s\u00a0Jukebox Fury<\/em>, 2017\u2019s\u00a0A Big Bad Beautiful Noise<\/em>\u00a0and 2022\u2019s\u00a0Alpha Beta Gamma Delta<\/em>\u00a0– is set for release in early April.

A brand new studio single will follow in the Summer with an archive double-live album promised for later in the year. These releases pave the way for a much anticipated album of new material in 2026.

The Godfathers were formed in 1985 by brothers Peter Coyne (vocals) and Chris Coyne (bass\/vocals) from the ashes of their previous band The Sid Presley Experience. They toured extensively and quickly earned a serious reputation for their electrifying brand of primal rock & roll & their incendiary live shows around the world.

Forming a recording partnership with famed producer Vic Maile, they released four critically acclaimed, smash hit independent singles on their own Corporate Image label (\u2018Lonely Man\u2019, \u2018This Damn Nation\u2019, \u2018I Want Everything\u2019 and \u2018Love Is Dead’) which alongside a brutal cover of Lennon\u2019s \u2018Cold Turkey\u2019 were compiled into their seminal debut album release\u00a0Hit By Hit<\/em>\u00a0in \u201986 and signed a worldwide deal with Sony\/Epic records in \u201887.

The Godfathers unleashed the storming rocker \u2018Birth School Work Death\u2019 as a single in ’87 and scored a US Billboard top 40 hit after massive college radio airplay and heavy MTV rotation. Then the classic\u00a0Birth School Work Death<\/em>\u00a0album was released in \u201988 (includes the hit anthem title track and singles \u2018Cause I Said So\u2019 and a re-recorded \u2018Love Is Dead\u2019) and was promoted with extensive tours of the UK, Europe and America as they cemented their reputation as one of the best live acts of the period. Celebrity fans included among others David Bowie and Johnny Depp.

The Godfathers\u2019 mob inspired image, raw lyrics and guitar-driven, edgy rock’n’roll sound was in direct contrast to the clean, synthesized sounds that mainly dominated the mainstream charts at that time & foreshadowed the Brit-Pop\/Rock resurgence of the early 1990\u2019s.

1989\u2019s album\u00a0More Songs About Love And Hate<\/em>\u00a0(featuring the American college radio smash single \u2018She Gives Me Love\u2019 and live rockabilly favourite \u2018Walking Talking Johnny Cash Blues\u2019) was followed by the death of producer Vic Maile and the departure of guitarist Kris Dollimore, who was replaced on guitar by Chris Burrows for\u00a0Unreal World<\/em>\u00a0(which included the American radio hit \u2018Unreal World\u2019 and a searing cover of The Creation\u2019s psychedelic classic \u2018How Does It Feel To Feel\u2019) in 1991.

A provocatively titled live Godfathers\u2019 album\u00a0Dope, Rock & Roll & Fucking In The Streets<\/em>\u00a0was issued in 1992 on Corporate Image amd the band toured the globe constantly. With a new line-up The Godfathers released two further albums on Intercord Records, a self-titled album in \u201893 (AKA\u00a0The Orange Album<\/em>\u00a0because of its distinctive cover art) and Afterlife in \u201995, before the group finally imploded in 2001.

In 2008 The Godfathers reformed their original line-up to promote a vastly expanded 2CD version of\u00a0Hit By Hit<\/em>\u00a0and performed a select number of British, European and American dates and festivals together for the first time in nearly 20 years. These included the highly successful revival of their traditional Saint Valentine\u2019s Day Massacre concerts with knockout, triumphant performances at The Forum in London in February \u201908 and Chicago\u2019s Metro in February \u201909.

The Godfathers have become increasingly influential in recent years with Top 5 American artists Local H & Spoon releasing cover versions of Godfathers\u2019 classics ‘Birth School Work Death\u2019 and \u2018This Damn Nation\u2019 and The Mars Volta citing The Godfathers\u2019 primal rock’n’roll sound as a direct influence on their\u00a0Noctourniquet<\/em>\u00a0album.

The Godfathers – Shot Live At The 100 Club,<\/em>\u00a0a Live DVD\/CD was released November 1st 2010 to mark the 25th anniversary of the bands formation and\u00a0Jukebox Fury\u00a0<\/em>followed in March 2013 to significant acclaim.

A new studio album\u00a0A Big Bad Beautiful Noise<\/em>\u00a0was unveiled in February 2017, preceded by the single, \u2018You Don’t Love Me\u2019. Critics and fans hailed the album as the band’s best in many years, with\u00a0Vive Le Rock<\/em>\u00a0claiming it was “up there with The Godfathers’ ’80s classics”. A live album\u00a0This Is War! – The Godfathers Live!<\/em>\u00a0followed in 2019. The storming 2020 double A-side ‘I’m Not Your Slave’ and ‘Wild And Free’ saw them take another sonic step forward and the 2022 release of the\u00a0Alpha Beta Gamma Delta<\/em>\u00a0album (lauded with career best reviews) and the more recent expanded edition\u00a0Alpha Beta Gamma Delta Plus<\/em>\u00a0have once again confirmed The Godfathers are here to stay.
