The legendary Manchester-formed post-punk act The Chameleons<\/strong> commence a short UK and Irish tour tomorrow (6th December) that culminates with a sold-out date at the Albert Hall in their home city on 14th December. They can then be heard in session on BBC 6 Music two days later on the Riley & Coe show.

<\/strong>The band are also part of the line-up announced this week for Forever Now, a mammoth new one-day festival taking place at The National Bowl, Milton Keynes on 22nd June 2025 that will also feature appearances by a host of other \u201880s icons. The Chameleons have been riding a crest of rejuvenated momentum following the release of two EPs in 2024. \u2018Where Are You?\u2019 was issued in May and included their first brand new music in over two decades, followed in October by a handful of refreshed and re-recorded archival songs entitled ‘Tomorrow Remember Yesterday’. Both are available on Metropolis Records. A long-awaited new album, \u2018Arctic Moon\u2019, will be released in 2025, the band’s first full-length record since 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 has also seen them touring on both sides of the Atlantic, playing to some of their biggest ever audiences.

The Chameleons have long been cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of (The) Verve, Oasis, Interpol, The Killers, Editors, White Lies and The Slow Readers Club. They are renowned for their transformative recorded catalogue and intense and emotionally charged live performances, creating a legacy that extends well beyond their four studio albums to date. Their widely acclaimed debut, \u2018Script of the Bridge\u2019 (1983) has been described by many as a masterpiece way ahead of its time, and was followed by \u2018What Does Anything Mean? Basically!\u2019 (1984), \u2018Strange Times\u2019 (1986) and \u2018Why Call It Anything\u2019 (2001).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band\u2019s unique sound has been captivating listeners for over four decades with a unique mix of melancholic yet energetic and powerful tunes, hypnotic ethereal riffs and a timeless lyrical style. One of the most important yet underrated rock bands of the ’80s and ’90s, they have contributed substantially to the post-punk, shoegaze and indie scenes of those decades and beyond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
