The song creates a dark\u00a0mood with a post-punk intro\u00a0which rapidly grabs attention. As the singers (Skold and Finn)\u00a0enter the mix, the music becomes harder, perfectly moving into a stronger, more aggressive alternative rock and industrial\u00a0style. The first big highlight occurs at 1:07, when the chorus bursts into a crescendo, featuring a dual vocal onslaught from SKOLD and Finnegan Seeker Bell. Their synchronized performance, inspired\u00a0by Marilyn Manson&#8217;s creepy approach, lends an unsettling quality to the song. This is when &#8220;Payback&#8221; really hits its stride, merging industrial roughness with a raw, alternative edge. After the chorus, the music calms down, providing an atmospheric contrast to the previous energy. The voices take on a new dimension with an unusual distortion effect, most likely accomplished with a vocoder, providing a futuristic and spooky air to the the song. Overall, &#8220;Payback&#8221; is an industrial rock anthem with a strong attitude and a unique alternative rock taste. With its dark themes, strong crescendos, and unique use of voice effects, &#8220;Payback&#8221; is a catchy\u00a0track\u00a0that is sure to make a cool\u00a0impression.
