A Companion Piece to the Film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” And Featuring Previously Unreleased Material and Entirely New Performances, Including a Song by J.R.R. Tolkien, “In Elven Lands-The Fellowship”Released by Oglio Records is Available Now

Los Angeles, CA (December 13, 2012)– Oglio Records (http://oglio.com/the-fellowship-in-elven-lands-second-edition) is proud to announce the release of music inspired by the feature film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, IN ELVEN LANDS – The Fellowship (www.inelvenlands.com).

IN ELVEN LANDS – The Fellowship is truly an authentic musical reconstruction, inspired by the Myths and Poetry of Professor J.R.R. Tolkien and performed by THE FELLOWSHIP.

The Fellowship performs on an all-acoustic array of ancient and modern instruments, singing songs in Sindarin, Quenya, Anglo-Saxon and Modern English. The result of their labor is IN ELVEN LANDS — the fully realized music of an ancient, lost civilization. This digitally re-mastered Second Edition features previously unreleased material and entirely new performances, including a song by J.R.R. Tolkien, plus an entirely new song with lyrics by one of the foremost Tolkien linguists, and a 50-Page digital booklet that gives you a glimpse into the ancient text of the Tir Im Psalter.

First conceived in 1992, IN ELVEN LANDS-The Fellowship applies the techniques of forensic musicology to discover what the music of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Middle-earth” may have sounded like. After years of research, a group of musicians began recording on Boxing Day of 1998, a journey that would take them more than seven years. After two years of recording, the band began referring to its-self as “The Fellowship.” The name stuck.

Oglio Records Founder and CEO Carl Caprioglio noted, “Oglio Records has enjoyed a long history with the creative team of Carvin Knowles and Adam Pike. We have produced many projects together but this one is special as it really comes from a true love, affection and respect for J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. I am proud and excited to be involved with their latest collaboration. When Carvin approached me with the concept for In Elven Lands, I was only tangentially familiar with J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. After listening to the sample tracks I was motivated to learn more. I have since become a big fan of The Lord Of The Rings and I look forward to seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in theaters December 14h. I encourage everyone to listen to In Elven Lands and experience the magic for themselves.”
