{"id":24574,"date":"2024-07-11T21:59:01","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T21:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/?p=24574"},"modified":"2024-07-11T21:59:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T21:59:03","slug":"the-jesus-lizard-share-video-single-for-alexis-feels-sick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2024\/07\/11\/the-jesus-lizard-share-video-single-for-alexis-feels-sick\/","title":{"rendered":"The Jesus Lizard share video\/single for &#8220;Alexis Feels Sick&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>the Jesus Lizard<\/strong>, who release&nbsp;<strong><em>Rack<\/em><\/strong>, their first new album in 26 years<em>,<\/em>&nbsp;on Friday the 13th&nbsp;of September via&nbsp;<strong>Ipecac Recordings<\/strong>, offer a second preview of what has become one of 2024\u2019s most eagerly-awaited albums with today\u2019s arrival of \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rarelyunable.cmail19.com\/t\/y-l-mjdkihy-itkddddtn-i\/\">Alexis Feels Sick<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inspired by Girls Against Boys\/Soulside drummer&nbsp;<strong>Alexis Fleisig<\/strong>\u2019s guarded opinion of modern life, the four-and-a-half-minute track is met with an esoteric,&nbsp;<strong>David Yow<\/strong>&nbsp;created video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yow shares insight into the concept behind the clip: \u201c<em>The \u2018Alexis Feels Sick\u2019 video is a disgusting and comically impressionistic portrait of American Late Stage Capitalism\u2026 with some doggies.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0<strong>Duane Denison<\/strong>\u00a0adds that it\u2019s a \u201c<em>study in greed, gluttony, and\u2026 dogs.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"the Jesus Lizard &quot;Alexis Feels Sick&quot;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dCcH0BV5sjo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">News of the band\u2019s return came last month via&nbsp;<em>The New York Times<\/em>, who said the new LP is \u201c<em>a raucous record that recaptures the lunging momentum, stealth nuance and unhinged Yow-isms&nbsp; of [their] best work.<\/em>\u201d \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rarelyunable.cmail19.com\/t\/y-l-mjdkihy-itkddddtn-h\/\">Hide &amp; Seek<\/a>\u201d, the first taste from the 11-song album, was described by Yow as \u201c<em>a perky ditty about a witch who can\u2019t behave, and it\u2019s got nearly as many hooks as a Mike Tyson fight.<\/em>\u201d The video captures the band &#8211; Mac McNeilly, David Wm. Sims, Denison and Yow \u2013 recording&nbsp;<em>Rack<\/em>&nbsp;with Producer Paul Allen at Nashville\u2019s Audio Eagle Studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the Jesus Lizard reconvened in 2009 for a limited number of shows and have maintained their bond both as friends in close contact with one another, and touring bandmates. \u201c<em>We literally only made the record because we thought it would be fun to make the record,<\/em>\u201d says Sims.
