Today we present the latest musical offering from a musician who clearly has a strong admiration for those artists who pioneered genres such as punk rock and subgenres as shoegaze and postpunk. You know, the kind of artists who have left a profound influence on popular music.  Who is this masked man? It’s none other than New York-based garage rocker Dmitry Wild<\/strong><\/a> , who has released his single ‘Sweetest Thing’<\/strong><\/a> about fear and the vicious tendency to get sucked back into that dark place, and will also soon release his ‘Electric Souls’<\/strong><\/a> LP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showcasing his trademark blend of 70\u2019s vintage rock, garage rock and punk ethos, this single follows the lead track ‘Liberation’ feat. Tryst<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>with its accompanying video<\/strong><\/a>, featuring imagery that is symbolic of protest and hope, filmed in Ukraine, Spain, Czech Republic and various US locales, including Florida, Massachusetts, Tennessee and San Francisco. But unlike that first single, the new one brings to mind such artists as the early Telescopes, J&MC, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and newer bands like Trementina or Duelectrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“‘Sweetest Thing’ is also about evolving and growing as a person and one day you let the fear go and swim in the ocean rain, but all that is done to punk shoegaze raunchy guitars that are reminiscent of Jesus and Mary Chain and perhaps about of New Order in the bridge to have it all explode in the guitar attack till the end,” says Dmitry Wild<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accompanying video<\/strong><\/a> was filmed and edited by Strange House Media<\/strong> with a backing video by BamIam<\/strong>. Filmed around Woodstock and Hudson, New York, including on-site at Hudson Brewing and Co, the video features Tommy Love<\/strong> and Robert Paley<\/strong> (of Dmitry Wild & The Spells<\/strong><\/a>), as well as appearances by Jennifer Claroscura<\/strong> and Tryst <\/strong>as the witch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this album, Wild collaborated with Strange House Media<\/strong><\/a>, their main engineer, Byron Frayne<\/strong><\/a>, mixing most of the songs included here and mastering the full album. This collaboration also extended to the two songs released from this album to date – the videos for ‘Don\u2019t Need Anybody’<\/strong><\/a> and ‘<\/strong>Castle Walls’<\/strong> <\/a>were also created in collaboration with Strange House Media, Byron Frayne and <\/strong>Tryst <\/strong>as editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the live music scene, Dmitry’s shows take on a more rocking sound. His band Dmitry Wild & The Spells<\/a> <\/strong>currently involves drummer Tommy Love<\/strong>, bassist Robert Paley<\/strong>, keyboardist Garret Smelcer<\/strong> and David Varlow<\/strong> on rhythm guitar. When also sometimes joined by notable Rockabilly bassist Chops LaConte<\/strong>, things take on a more theatrical turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Sweetest Thing’ is out now, available at all fine online music platforms, including Apple Music<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>and <\/strong>Spotify<\/a>, as well as Bandcamp<\/strong><\/a>, where the ‘Electric Souls’ LP<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(out October 14) can already be ordered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
