Art Rock\/Prog Folk artist Potter\u2019s Daughter (Dyanne Potter Voegtlin) to release the EP \u201cWeighted Keys\u201d on August 19, 2022! The EP will be released by MRR and available both digitally, and as a CD.
Potter\u2019s Daughter released their debut album, \u201cThe Blind Side,\u201d in August 2018. In 2019 they released two singles; \u201cBlood and Water,\u201d featuring Annie Haslam (Renaissance) as guest artist, and the holiday single, \u201cThis Winter\u2019s Child,\u201d which was composed for the \u201cMRR Holiday\u201d album. In 2020, they released the EP, \u201cCasually Containing Rage,\u201d and in 2021, they released the single, \u201cPyrrha\u2019s Song\u201d (featuring drummer Jimmy Keegan), for Nick Katona\u2019s project, Troubleshooting Pandora\u2019s Box.
Last year, Dyanne and bassist\/producer Jan Christiana formed the band, Octarine Sky, and released their debut album, \u201cClose to Nearby,\u201d which featured Simon Phillips, Guthrie Govan, and Amit Chatterjee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, \u201cWeighted Keys,\u201d by Potter\u2019s Daughter, is a compilation of renditions of three songs which were dear to Dyanne during three different phases of her life:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. \u201cNight of the Swallow\u201d \u2013 a semi-acoustic version of Kate Bush\u2019s dramatic song from her album, \u201cThe Dreaming\u201d (from Dyanne\u2019s time in NYC, when she first discovered Kate Bush)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. \u201cCatherine\u201d \u2013 a solo piano rendition of Tom Kelly\u2019s elegant song from his album, \u201cSpinning Through Eternity\u201d (from the present time, in honor of Nickie Harte Kelly and the entire prog community who so warmly welcomed Potter\u2019s Daughter and Octarine Sky)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. \u201cThat Song About the Midway\u201d \u2013 a semi-acoustic version of Joni Mitchell\u2019s beautiful song from her 1969 album, \u201cClouds.\u201d (Dyanne first heard the song at age 16, right after joining her first professional band, and has loved the song since) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1.
