Relocating to Los Angeles in the autumn of 1986,\u00a0<strong>CHARLOTTE\u00a0<\/strong>would go through several rhythm sections until the lineup of Ganz, DiBacco, Cacciotti, ex-Masi member Chris Colovas (bass) and Eric D. Brewton (drums) was complete.\u00a0Some back-and-forth banter between the band regarding the so-called \u201csins of mankind\u201d led to a conversation about legendary women who left their mark on history through less than reputable means which in turn led to a discussion about the legend of Charlotte the Harlot, the most beautiful of whores. Seeking symbolism, the band shortened the name to\u00a0<strong>CHARLOTTE<\/strong>, then barreled ahead full throttle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CHARLOTTE &#039;Little Devils&#039; (E\u00f6nian Records)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qo096raWMcQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a year or so in Los Angeles,\u00a0<strong>CHARLOTTE<\/strong>\u00a0began the transition from what had been a glam image to something less interested in fitting into the scene and much more focused on the music.\u00a0<em>\u201cWe transformed pretty quickly,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Eric confirms,\u00a0<em>\u201cand never really considered ourselves a \u201chair\u201d or metal band but simply a ROCK band, nothing more nothing less.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Initially, their sound was heavily influenced by the likes of\u00a0<strong>Judas Priest<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ratt<\/strong>\u00a0but by the beginning of 1990,\u00a0<strong>CHARLOTTE\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>music was drawing off more varied influences from\u00a0<strong>Led Zeppelin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Deep Purple<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Aerosmith<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>The Doors<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Howlin\u2019 Wolf\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Willie Dixon<\/strong>, providing the blues-drenched hard rock stylings heard on their later material.\u00a0<em>\u201cWe weren\u2019t afraid to go out and play a ten-minute song at a time when three minutes was not only in fashion but almost mandatory.\u201d<\/em><br><br><strong>CHARLOTTE\u00a0<\/strong>frequented the stages of iconic venues such as\u00a0<strong>Whisky a Go-Go<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Roxy<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Troubadour<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>FM Station<\/strong>, to name a few. \u00a0However, it is\u00a0<strong>The Whisky<\/strong>\u00a0that holds the strongest memories for Eric,\u00a0<em>\u201cWe played there more often than the rest. We felt at home there. Dark and raw, it has such a great history and it reeked of rock n&#8217; roll. Although we did get banned a couple of times due to drinking, fighting, starting a fire, and a few broken mirrors!\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0However, beyond the fun times and tight brotherhood loomed a band hungry for success, as long as that success came on their own terms.
