What started as a desire to create music for films eventually transitioned into a new solo ambient-chill project, dubbed KAAPSTAAD. Composing and recording the music while moving between his two homes of Sweden and Australia, this project ultimately blossomed in its own unique way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the piano-based resonating ambient track\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/EnmXsGdH5Ak\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8216;Night&#8217;<\/strong><\/a>, the Sweden-based Australian artist\u00a0has now released<strong>\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/kaapstaad.bandcamp.com\/album\/aula\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;Aula&#8217;<\/a><\/strong>, for which he worked\u00a0with the British production company\u00a0<strong>UNTHNKBLE<\/strong>\u00a0to create\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/dFMUzd-E0ow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a spectacular cinematic video<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0featuring drone footage taken over epic, sweeping landscapes. His chiming notes and chilled textures seem to paint images of the Baltic landscape that conceived it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kaapstaad - Aula\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dFMUzd-E0ow?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An outlet for his more introspective, downtempo solo creations,&nbsp;Kaapstaad is the solo electronic project of&nbsp;<strong>Tim Spelman<\/strong>, the driving force behind indie pop outfit&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tinyfighterz.bandcamp.com\/\"><strong>Tiny Fighter<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;post-rock project&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/firetothestars.bandcamp.com\/\"><strong>Fire To The Stars<\/strong><\/a>. This music is influenced by such notable artists as Neils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, Ludovico Enaudi, BVG, Agnes Obel, Tibeauthetraveller and Grouper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both &#8216;Aula&#8217; and \u2018Night\u2019 were performed, recorded and produced in Stockholm and Sunshine Coast, Australia by Tim Spelman. &#8216;Night&#8217; was where it all started and, with support from Swedish collaborators&nbsp;<strong>Marcus Wallberg<\/strong>&nbsp;and<strong>&nbsp;Tommy Wilen<\/strong>, Kaapstaad became a project in its own right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tim Spelman<\/strong>\u00a0notes,\u00a0&#8220;Night\u2019 was originally composed for a short film score that never saw the light of the day. Intended as a lullaby-meets-soundscape, the idea was to combine a simple melody with field recordings taken out in a Swedish forest at night &#8211; that&#8217;s the rain, insects and crackles you can hear in the background of the song. Whilst the film soundtrack never eventuated, I was very happy with both the process and the product &#8211; something very different to the indie-pop\/post-rock of my previous bands. So happy, in fact, it gave birth to an entirely new project &#8211; Kaapstaad.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kaapstaad - Night\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EnmXsGdH5Ak?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
