Throughout her storied music career,\u00a0Anna Karney<\/strong>\u00a0has performed across the country and released an incredible catalog of chart topping and critically acclaimed singles, EPs, and albums. Now with her San Francisco-based band\u00a0KARNEY<\/strong>\u00a0is set to release\u00a0GONNA BE BEAUTIFUL<\/em><\/strong>, an exciting new collection of KARNEY originals along with some freshly conceived versions of old favorites.\u00a0

GONNA BE BEAUTIFUL<\/em>\u00a0was recorded at\u00a0East Bay Recorders<\/strong>\u00a0in Oakland, CA, and produced by Anna Karney and\u00a0Michael Rosen<\/strong>\u00a0(Rancid, Tesla). Featured performers include\u00a0Bill Ortiz<\/strong>\u00a0(Santana, Tony Toni Tone) on trumpet;\u00a0Jim Bogios<\/strong>\u00a0(Counting Crows) on drums;\u00a0James Deprato<\/strong>\u00a0(Chuck Prophet Band) on guitar;\u00a0Kevin White<\/strong>\u00a0(Chuck Prophet Band) on bass; and longtime Karney band drummer\u00a0Jeff Herrera<\/strong>. Offering a message of hope in uncertain times on the title track\u00a0\u201cGonna Be Beautiful,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Anna Karney encourages her listeners to not get discouraged and to keep moving towards a kinder, inclusive, and happier world as she sings \u201cTurn on the light \/ Keep the vision in plain sight \/ Bring it all into focus.\u201d Also coming soon is an official music video for the track to be released later in 2022.
Keeping her mind on social justice and positive messages, Anna Karney\u2019s lyrical content offers a sardonic and sometimes straightforward approach to many of the issues facing people today. Her musical influences include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patti Smith, John Lennon, Sheryl Crow, Chrissie Hynde, and Joni Mitchell. As an arranger, pianist, and guitarist, she has worked with artists such as\u00a0George Clinton<\/strong>,\u00a0Linda Perry<\/strong>, and\u00a0Dennis Bovell<\/strong>.\u00a0

Songs from the last KARNEY EP release\u00a0Better<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0received stellar airplay on Triple-A and Americana radio stations, including the title track and her powerful cover of\u00a0\u201cRamble On,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0one of Anna Karney\u2019s favorite Led Zeppelin songs. She then released a series of singles throughout 2021, including her personal and heartfelt original track\u00a0\u201cBe Together,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and a cover of the Neil Young classic\u00a0\u201cHeart Of Gold.\u201d<\/strong>

To create the \u201cBe Together\u201d single, KARNEY band musicians worked from individual studios to assemble their parts and build the track. Singer\/guitarist Anna Karney, bassist Kevin White and guitarist James DePrato all recorded tracks at their own home studios. Drummer Jeff Herrera created rough drum parts in his rehearsal studio and sent them to trumpet player Bill Ortiz, who then recreated them digitally. All the tracks were then sent to producer\/mixer Michael Rosen, who finished the mix at his East Bay Recorders studio. Ironically, even though the single is titled \u201cBe Together,\u201d the musicians never were.\u00a0\u00a0

Previous KARNEY releases include her 2018 album\u00a0No Mercy<\/em><\/strong>; a series of singles from 2016,\u00a0Manifest Destiny, Vol. 1 EP<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Restless Wind, Vol. 2 EP<\/em><\/strong>; the 2012 album\u00a0Love & Respect<\/em><\/strong>; the 2003 album\u00a0All Connected<\/em><\/strong>; and her debut release\u00a0Karney<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0from 1999. Anna Karney has worked with producers and artists in the SF Bay Area such as Producer\/engineer\u00a0Mark Pistel<\/strong>\u00a0(Michael Franti, Grace Jones, Chuck Prophet), Producer\/Engineer Michael Rosen (Rancid, Tesla, Smashmouth, Santana, and Papa Roach), and\u00a0Adam Munoz<\/strong>\u00a0(Herbie Hancock, Dave Mathews, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Bell, Chester Thompson, and Lyle Lovett).

Anna Karney has had a diverse musical career, having spent many years composing music for games such as\u00a0Star Wars Galaxies<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Monkey Island IV<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Armed and Dangerous<\/em><\/strong>, several\u00a0SimCity<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0titles,\u00a0Metal Dungeon<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Death Jr.<\/em><\/strong>, and many more. She received the esteemed\u00a0\u201cDreamcatcher\u201d Award<\/strong>\u00a0from the Visual and Performing Arts division of the\u00a0San Francisco Unified School District<\/strong>\u00a0for her work as a choral teacher and conductor for middle and high school students, as well as her contribution to the furthering of music education in the San Francisco public school system. Additionally, Anna Karney has scored ballet and modern dance pieces as an artist in residence at\u00a0Mills College<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0San Francisco State University<\/strong>. She also composed her\u00a0Opus 1 Chaconne Sur Sept<\/strong>\u00a0for nationally renowned contemporary music group\u00a0Earplay Ensemble<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0

The KARNEY band has enjoyed several open-air concerts during Covid, giving vulnerable and at-risk populations the opportunity to enjoy live performance in a safe and relaxed way. Stay tuned for more live performances in 2022!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
