On Friday, the ever-intriguing\u00a0Jenn Vix<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is releasing a powerful and purposeful single for our times. Titled\u00a0‘PTSD’<\/strong><\/a>, this song is timely when so many folks in America (and elsewhere) certainly have had a stressful few years and the rate of psychological disorders \/ conditions, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder have just skyrocketed to crisis proportions.\u00a0

Apart from generally just being a kick-ass tracks with\u00a0gripping vocals, as is typical for any Jenn Vix track, this single serves a double purpose as proceeds from its sale will be donated to\u00a0NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)<\/strong><\/a>, a frontline responder organization that provides critical mental health resources and support to millions of people across the USA.

Opening up about her own tragic experience with PTSD, Vix is breaking new ground – even for herself – both in this respect and by taking her\u00a0unique brand of songcrafting into\u00a0R&B and trap territory. for this release, she worked with French beat producer\u00a0Mister Lazy\u00a0<\/strong>and renowned Grammy-nominated mastering engineer\u00a0Chris Gehringer<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Twenty One Pilots, St. Vincent)<\/strong>.

For those of you who don’t already know Vix by name, you will at least recognize an array of past collaborators, who include 2 members of The Cure –\u00a0Reeves Gabrels and\u00a0Andy Anderson,<\/strong>\u00a0in addition to\u00a0Psychedelic Furs’\u00a0John Ashton<\/strong>\u00a0(perhaps her most steady collaborator, as well as\u00a0Danny Chavis (The Veldt), Dirk Ivens (Absolute Body Control, The Klinik and Dive)<\/strong>, as well as\u00a0Marco Pirroni (Adam Ant, Rema Rema, The Models, Sinead O\u2019Connor)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Rodney Anonymous (The Dead Milkmen)<\/strong>.

“This new track was primarily written about my experience of being diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and what it is like to live with it. I’ve survived SA, homelessness, DV, attempted homicide, and two near fatal illnesses. Though I’ve written about what I’ve gone through, this song is for everyone who has experienced or is experiencing trauma. I deeply empathize with anyone dealing with it.\u00a0During this pandemic, so many people have experienced intense heartbreak, loss, and other deeply traumatic experiences. I lost two of my friends, and I know many who have lost loved ones, friends, family members, co-workers, and people they saw in their daily lives; before the lockdowns happened,” says\u00a0Jenn Vix.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vix got her musical start in Providence, RI, while also getting to know a tougher New York City in her teens, crossing paths with the likes of Iggy Pop,<\/strong> who lived in her mother’s building. While her first experience as a vocalist came with 1980s one-off band Disco Donut<\/strong> (with Adam Horovitz of The Beastie Boys<\/strong> and singer-songwriter Nicole Willis<\/strong>), a decade would pass before Vix broke out on the national scene. Her self-released album received a glowing 3.5-star review in Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/em>, who wrote, \u201cVix sounds perpetually enraptured. And the Rhode Island multi-instrumentalist has reason to be. Her music–clear, simple melodies awash in echo–is all dreaminess and shuddering, and from inside its swirl, her voice wafts up\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an indication of her ever-evolving approach to her craft, in recent years, Vix has been performing both as a solo artist and also as a drummer (on an electronic drum kit) and vocalist, in Boston-based post-punk \/ electronic rock duo Feeney Vix<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
