John Lodge<\/strong>, legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of\u00a0The Moody Blues<\/strong>, and inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is to release a new version of his classic hit \u2018Ride My See-Saw\u2019\u00a0out on Keeping the Faith for Halesouth Ltd, distributed by BFD\/The Orchard.\u00a0 The song also features\u00a0Jon Davison<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0YES<\/strong>\u00a0on backing vocals.\u00a0

The song was recorded live in Las Vegas on\u00a0\u2018The Royal Affair Tour\u2019<\/strong>, and appears on John\u2019s new live album,\u00a0\u2018The Royal Affair and After\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0due for release on December 3rd, and available now for pre-order\u00a0here<\/a>. “Ride My See-Saw”<\/strong>\u00a0was written by Lodge, and was one of two singles from their\u00a0In Search of the Lost Chord<\/strong>\u00a0album released in 1967.\u00a0 Billboard described it at the time as a “blockbuster rocker” and a “mover from start to finish”, and John\u2019s new version continues to be that \u2018rocker\u2019 today!\u00a0 The song explores the idea of knowledge in a changing world, and ponders the question if perhaps what we are taught is not how things really are.\u00a0 Despite being 54 years old, the theme, and the sound, are as relevant today as they were back then.\u00a0\u00a0

In John\u2019s words, \u201cThe song is really about growing up. You are taught things at school, and given \u2018tools\u2019, but then you grow up and go into the world.\u00a0 Then it\u2019s up to you to discover for yourself what\u2019s really happening.\u00a0 \u201c\u2019Ride My See-Saw\u2019 is really about how life is full of highs and lows, you can\u2019t ride the wave forever\u2026.and the secret to me is to find a balance to keep the glass half full\u2026\u00a0something I’ve thought about a lot over the last 18 months.\u201d

\u201cRide My See-Saw\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>has long been known by fans as the finale at the Moodies shows, and each night during the\u00a0\u2018Royal Affair Tour\u2019 Jon Davison<\/strong>\u00a0would join John and his band on stage during this \u2018encore\u2019, adding his backing vocals to this rocking hit, arguably even more of a rocker than it was 54 years ago!

Davison has been the lead singer with YES since 2012, and has been friends with Lodge since they met on the \u2018Cruise to the Edge\u2019 in 2019.

Joining John on stage is his \u201910,000 Light Years Band\u2019;\u00a0Alan Hewitt\u00a0<\/strong>(Music Director and Keyboards),\u00a0Billy Ashbaugh<\/strong>\u00a0(Drums),\u00a0Duffy King<\/strong>\u00a0(Guitars) and\u00a0Jason Charboneau<\/strong>\u00a0(Cello).\u00a0 Together they capture the heart of this classic Moody Blues song, staying true to the original, whilst at the same time bringing a modern feel to it.
