POISON BOYS<\/strong> release their new album ‘Don’t You Turn On Me’<\/em><\/strong> on 29th October, out on Riot Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to who you talk to, rock and roll is either dying out, evolving, or back in full swing. In the case of the POISON BOYS<\/strong> from Chicago, they’re pumping new life into the genre and keeping it as punk as possible!

POISON BOYS<\/strong> recently released their new single \u2018Little Speedway Girl\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>via Riot Records. \u2018Little Speedway Girl\u2019 <\/strong>is a tasty little punk rock romp that channels all the good vibes from rock legends like New York Dolls, The Stooges, Kiss<\/strong> and UK punk acts such as The Heartbreakers<\/strong> and The Vibrators.<\/strong>\u2018Little Speedway Girl<\/em>\u2019 <\/strong>gave a strong indication of what to expect from their new album Don\u2019t You Turn On Me<\/strong>, which will be released digitally on the 29th<\/sup> of October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t You Turn on Me<\/strong> is the second full length album from POISON BOYS<\/strong>. It\u2019s a long time coming since their first album Out of My Head<\/strong> in 2019, and is a general move in the direction of the band\u2019s punk styling and ability to write hard-hitting, late 1970\u2019s punk, steeped fully in rock n roll roots. It ranges in vibe from more early-mid 70\u2019s sleazier hits, like title track \u2018Don\u2019t You Turn on Me,\u2019 \u2018Sweet Marie,\u2019<\/strong> or \u2018I Was Cryin\u2019,\u2019<\/strong> to blistering punk rippers like \u2018Nothing but Darkness,\u2019 \u2018Day by Day,\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Keep Knocking,\u2019<\/strong> to instant punk classics that could have been played by early punk bands such as \u2018Little Speedway Girl,\u2019 \u2018Living on the Edge of the Knife,\u2019 <\/strong>or \u2018She\u2019s Nowhere.\u2019<\/strong>

The band\u2019s classic Johnny Thunders<\/strong> sleaze is showcased on \u2018Dick in the Dirt,\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Take a Chance With Me\u2019<\/strong>, while a less aggressive, more charming side is shown on \u2018Can\u2019t Get You Out of My Mind.\u2019 <\/strong>Shining bright like rock n roll torch bearers through the endless sea of bands who add too many modern influences to their pursuit of punk, POISON BOYS<\/strong> are bringing you back to 1977 with this new album, transporting you to a time and place you may not have even existed during, but definitely wish you were there for.

ABOUT POISON BOYS<\/strong>

In early 2014, long-time friends Matt Dudzik<\/strong> and Mike Lippman<\/strong> felt there weren’t enough real rock n\u2019 roll bands left, especially in Chicago. The two quickly put a band and demo together and began playing shows in the Chicago area, steadily gaining a following throughout the summer of 2014. Tragically, in the fall of that year, Mike<\/strong> passed away at the age of 23 due to an accidental drug overdose. In honour and continual recognition of their friendship, Matt<\/strong> decided to continue the band and the vision the two of them shared for the future of the Poison Boys<\/strong>.

Over the next three years, the band completed its first tour of the East Coast, releasing two 7″ EPs, Headed for Disaster<\/strong> (No Front Teeth Records<\/strong>, 2016) & Bad Mouth<\/strong> (NFT Records<\/strong>, 2017), ending in 2017 with a successful “Bad Mouth in the South”<\/strong> Southern US tour. In 2018, the band played a four-show West Coast stint in April dubbed the “Lost LA Weekend”, a two-week “Wasted in the West”<\/strong> West Coast tour in September and released their first music video for the track \u2018Bustin’ Out\u2019<\/strong> from their third 7″ Poppin’ Eyes and Flashing Feet<\/strong> (White Zoo Records<\/strong>, 2019).

The following year was hugely successful as the band released their debut full length Out of My Head<\/strong> (Dead Beat Records<\/strong>, 2019), with two music videos \u2018Tear Me Apart\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Been Here All Night\u2019<\/strong> from the LP, completing a triumphant East Coast\/Canada tour in support of it all. The album was far from a straightforward punk n\u2019 roll record, with songs ranging in style from The Stooges’<\/strong> “Raw Power”- inspired proto-punk classics – like the title track \u2018Out of My Head\u2019<\/strong>, to a more sweet-sounding glam stomper like \u2018Cut Right Out\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Been Here All Night\u2019<\/strong>, to the old school Bomp! Records\/Hanoi Rocks<\/strong> influenced, sax-drenched hit \u2018Desperado\u2019<\/strong>. The album also includes an absolutely ripping cover of Larry Williams<\/strong> 1958 rock n\u2019 roll standard \u2018Slow Down’<\/strong> and the Dead Boys’<\/strong> teenage lament \u2018I Won’t Look Back\u2019<\/strong>.

The current line-up of Poison Boys<\/strong> is singer\/guitarist Matt Dudzik<\/strong>, guitarist Steve Elfinger<\/strong>, bassist Nico Bones<\/strong>, and drummer Matt Chaney<\/strong>. Poison Boys<\/strong> are clearly not slowing down anytime soon, having released a few singles and music videos for their upcoming album Don’t You Turn on Me<\/strong>, before signing with Golden Robot\/Riot Records<\/strong> in July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
