Today is release day for the debut offering from postpunk \/ nugaze artist Revolution Above Disorder<\/a><\/strong>,  the solo moniker of Dubliner Stephen Nicholas White <\/strong><\/a>(The Orange Kyte<\/a>, House of Dolls, <\/strong>Magic Shoppe<\/strong><\/a>)<\/strong>, who is currently based in Vancouver. ‘Illuminate’<\/strong><\/a> is a 3-track offering that was produced, mixed and mastered at <\/strong>Jacknife Sound<\/strong><\/a> by Jason Corbett <\/strong>of ACTORS<\/strong><\/a>. Fans of TOY, Creation Records, Factory Records, Ride, The Verve, Wire and Death In Vegas can rejoice. Add in The Jesus & Mary Chain, Sexores and No Joy for good measure. All 3 tracks are a mark of excellence all round and, as far as debut offerings go, this is a winner. Well done to everyone involved. 

“Illuminate\u2019 is the song that kickstarted Revolution Above Disorder. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I\u2019d just come off a European tour with Magic Shoppe and I found myself having to cancel scheduled plans with The Orange Kyte. In my downtime I began to reevaluate where I was headed musically and I realized I\u2019d become dissatisfied with what I\u2019d been doing. As I searched through old demos from the past, some going back over a decade, I was excited to hear songs with real potential that either I\u2019d abandoned or just plain forgotten about. I grew interested in the idea of this modern day version of myself collaborating with my chaotic and directionless former self. I wanted to finish what I\u2019d started many years prior. ‘\u2018Illuminate\u2019 was the first one I needed to record,” says Stephen Nicholas White<\/strong>.

The original version of the track features ACTORS’ Shannon Hemmett <\/strong>and Kendall Wooding <\/strong>on backing vocals, and bandmate Adam Fink<\/strong> on drums, as well as Josiah Webb<\/strong> of Magic Shoppe<\/strong><\/a> on guitar. Jason Corbett went on record to say \u201cI love working with Stephen. There\u2019s a trust and flow that spawns a real magic in the music. You can hear the adventure in the songs”. Track 3 is the acoustic version of this song and Track 2 is a dancefloor smasher –<\/em>‘Illuminate (Delta Omega Remix)’<\/strong><\/a> was created by Delta Omega<\/strong> a.k.a. Dublin-based Conor Paxton<\/strong><\/a> (House of Dolls, Buffalo Sunn, The Brothers Movement<\/strong>), who also happens to be White’s old bandmate in House of Dolls.

\u201cThe formidable sonic wizard that is Mr. Conor Paxton AKA Delta Omega is a long-time friend and musical collaborator of mine. After initially bonding over a mutual love of Death in Vegas, My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream, we formed House of Dolls and duly embarked on many gloriously heady adventures and misadventures across Ireland, the UK and Europe. This remix he has done for ‘Illuminate’ is indicative of just how well he understands the essence of what I\u2019m doing with Revolution Above Disorder. Coming at it with a dreamy,  psychedelic sensibility, it calls to mind peak Ecstasy-driven New Order, early seventies Germany, all filtered through an Eno-esque ambient shoegaze lens. I fucking love it. And I think you will too,” says Stephen Nicholas White<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original version is a powerful and euphoric post-punk \/ shoegaze single rooted in new wave and electro rock – a melting pot of post-punk, psychedelic rock and electronic music underpinned by raw, sincere vocals. This is guitar-based rock augmented by synths, drum machines and heavily treated instrumentation with a spine of pure melody. The accompanying video was directed and edited by Eliot Gal\u00e1n<\/strong> of Gal\u00e1n Films<\/strong><\/a>, a key creative (cinematographer, director, videographer, editor and colourist) in Vancouver’s film & tv industry, starring Analissa Longoria<\/strong><\/a> and Mat Durie<\/strong>.
