{"id":16089,"date":"2021-10-09T13:30:14","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T13:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skylight.gr\/?p=16089"},"modified":"2021-10-09T13:30:19","modified_gmt":"2021-10-09T13:30:19","slug":"austin-txs-skatenigs-ready-new-album-what-could-go-wrong-release-first-single-hell-and-back-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2021\/10\/09\/austin-txs-skatenigs-ready-new-album-what-could-go-wrong-release-first-single-hell-and-back-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin, TX\u2019s Skatenigs Ready New Album What Could Go Wrong?, Release First Single \u201cHell And Back Again!\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skatenigs, the long-running electro-thrashcore outfit led by singer Phil \u201cPhildo\u201d Owen, return to the musical stage with\u00a0<em>What Could Go Wrong?<\/em>, a collection of all-new recordings, set for release on October 29.<br><br>Featuring the current core Skatenigs crew of Owen, Chris Ahrens and Adam Lamar on guitars, and live drummer\/studio bassist Myke Bingham (Owen: \u201cHe\u2019s a one-man rhythm section!\u201d), the 12-track physical CD release will be followed by its digital streaming counterpart via Cleopatra Records on Halloween.<br><br>Skatenigs was begun by Owen in Los Angeles in 1989, though it\u2019s been Austin-based since the early \u201890s. Running until 1995, with a brief reunion for a handful of shows in 2011, Skatenigs were reactivated in 2016 for their self-released\u00a0<em>Adult Entertainment For Kids<\/em>, with all current members augmented by Big Boys\/Poison 13\/Junkyard legend Chris Gates.\u00a0<em>What Could Go Wrong?<\/em>\u00a0basically comprises what Skatenigs did during COVID-19 lockdown.<br><br>All 12 tracks were written and recorded in fits and starts, between dayjob engagements and other responsibilities. Among the highlights: A steroid-enhanced, turbo-charged, 30th anniversary \u201cLife, Liberty and the Pursuit Of Happiness\u201d remake\/remix of \u201cBeers, Steers and Queers,\u201d the Revolting Cocks hit featuring Owen\u2019s vocals.
