Multi-Grammy Award-winning\u00a0Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist\u00a0Carlos Santana<\/strong>\u00a0will release the third single off his star-studded, masterful new album,\u00a0Blessings and Miracles<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(out via BMG on October 15), a collaboration with the legendary vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, Grammy winner and BMI Icon\u00a0Steve Winwood<\/strong>\u00a0on the classic \u201cWhiter Shade of Pale<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking on a classic is sometimes risky, but Santana\u2019s pairing with fellow legend Steve Winwood on the Procol Harum gem \u201cA Whiter Shade of Pale\u201d puts all fears to rest. It\u2019s a resplendent, marvelously realized retelling, a nourishing hymn for the modern age, on which the two musical giants discover new pockets of beauty at every turn. As it was on the original, there\u2019s an elegiac feel throughout, but there\u2019s also a romantic element that never existed before. Winwood\u2019s voice, a wondrously singular instrument, is stirring and deeply moving, and Santana channels Matthew Fisher\u2019s original organ lines on guitar with reverence while putting his own unique stamp on the timeless melodies. With each passage, he lifts us higher and higher into bliss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santana recalls how he and Winwood were at a show in London\u2019s Hyde Park, and he went up to him and suggested they record the song. \u201cI said, \u2018You and I have to do it, but we\u2019re going to do it very sexy, like a Hare Krishna but with congas.\u2019 I played the components in his ear, and he said, \u2018I hear it, Carlos. You\u2019re right.\u2019 So that\u2019s what we did \u2013 it\u2019s Santana, Cuban, Puerto Rican in an African way. And man, you talk about sexy. Steve\u2019s voice is so sexy and beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winwood says, \u201cCarlos has been doing what I\u2019ve been trying to do for the last fifty years, namely combining elements of rock, jazz, folk, and Latin Afro-Caribbean music. Carlos\u2019 genius comes in large part from a wonderful combination of rock music with Latin-Cuban rhythms. I\u2019ve played with Carlos on numerous occasions over the past fifty years and I\u2019m very excited to be working with him again still.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to \u201cWhiter Shade of Pale,\u201d the album\u2019s first single \u201cMove<\/a>,\u201d featuring Rob Thomas<\/strong> and Zac Barnett<\/strong> from American Authors<\/strong>, and Santana\u2019s collaboration \u201cShe\u2019s Fire<\/a>\u201d with Diane Warren<\/strong> and G-Eazy<\/strong> is available now.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blessings and Miracles<\/em> is one of the most ambitious, inspired and magical albums of Santana\u2019s storied career, on which the legendary guitarist aims higher than ever. \u201cThe title of this album comes from my belief that we\u2019re born with heavenly powers that allow us to create blessings and miracles,\u201d Santana says. \u201cThe world programs you to be unworthy of those gifts, but we have to utilize light, spirit and soul \u2013 they\u2019re indestructible and immutable. Those are the three main elements on this album.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the above talents, Blessings and Miracles<\/em> sees Santana collaborating with a diverse host of brilliant artists, writers and producers including Chris Stapleton<\/strong>, Chick Corea<\/strong>, Rick Rubin<\/strong>, Corey Glover<\/strong>, Kirk Hammett<\/strong>, Ally Brooke<\/strong> and Narada Michael Walden<\/strong>, among others, on genre-bending, hook-filled knockout musical celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The record also features bravura performances from members of Santana\u2019s touring band (including drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, singer Tommy Anthony, bassist Benny Rietveld, percussionist Karl Perazzo, and keyboardist David K. Matthews), as well as impeccable vocals and keyboards by the guitarist\u2019s son, Salvador Santana, and stunning lead vocals by daughter, Stella Santana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
