{"id":15321,"date":"2021-05-18T17:02:01","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T17:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skylight.gr\/?p=15321"},"modified":"2021-05-18T17:02:04","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T17:02:04","slug":"an-experimental-collaboration-between-gridfailure-and-the-multi-platinum-trumpet-player-mac-gollehon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2021\/05\/18\/an-experimental-collaboration-between-gridfailure-and-the-multi-platinum-trumpet-player-mac-gollehon\/","title":{"rendered":"An experimental collaboration between GRIDFAILURE and the multi-platinum trumpet player MAC GOLLEHON"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nefarious Industries presents&nbsp;<em>Dismemberment Cabaret<\/em>, a cinematic collaborative album between New York harsh\/experimental soloist&nbsp;<strong>GRIDFAILURE<\/strong>&nbsp;and world-renowned and multi-platinum New York City-based trumpet player&nbsp;<strong>MAC GOLLEHON<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prohibition-era speakeasy and The Great Gatsby vibes merge with gritty horror\/slasher and detective films of the 1970s\/80s on\u00a0<em>Dismemberment Cabaret<\/em>, the uneasy combination is projected with unhinged, cinematic horror.\u00a0<strong>GRIDFAILURE<\/strong>\u00a0creator David Brenner weaves a harsh environment of post-industrial beats and nontraditional percussive elements, bass, guitars, analog synth, keyboards, violin, xylophone, and more, matrixed through layers of field recordings and brutalizing vocal torment.\u00a0<strong>MAC<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>GOLLEHON<\/strong>\u2019s explosive brass and wind contributions slash through the carnage with intensity on all ten songs of the dense album, displaying an array of styles from an even wider spectrum of eras and genres through a surge of trumpet, trombone, cornet, didgeridoo, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"GRIDFAILURE feat. MAC GOLLEHON - &quot;Transient Fault&quot; (Official Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A5r4yHhjn0w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While some of\u00a0<strong>GOLLEHON<\/strong>\u2019s elements were randomly recorded at prior sessions with the two artists,\u00a0<em>Dismemberment Cabaret\u00a0<\/em>was wholly created while in self-quarantine throughout 2020. Brenner orchestrated, recorded, and mixed the album at The Compound in Rockland County, with the bulk of\u00a0<strong>GOLLEHON<\/strong>\u2019s material self-recorded in the stairwell of his building in Staten Island.
