DIE KRUPPS has been one of the most influential pioneers of EBM and industrial metal since their inception in the vibrant music scene of D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany – the birthplace of both Kraftwerk and Neu!. Founded in 1980 by J\u00fcrgen Engler, the group had a massive impact on bands such as Depeche Mode, Ministry and even Detroit\u2019s early techno innovators. Just a year before Engler kicked off his DIE KRUPPS career, two Los Angeles-born brothers released the disco-inspired psychedelic pop masterpiece \u201cThe Number One Song In Heaven,\u201d a collaboration with the widely celebrated \u201cfather of disco,\u201d Giorgio Moroder, who’s pumping sequencer production of Donna Summer’s \u201cI Feel Love\u201d was highly influential on teenage Engler. The song became a Top 20 hit in the UK, and helped encourage the brothers to transplant themselves to British soil 4 years later. Those brothers, of course, were Ron and Russell Mael and their electronic project was SPARKS. Now, some 40 years later, DIE KRUPPS have revisited SPARKS\u2019 seminal track, adding their own unique production that turns the original\u2019s disco beat groove into a hyperdriven blast of EBM ecstasy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
